Big Bore Rifle Targets

I've come across these several times when searching for Dangerous Game targets.

Curious if @franzfmdavis might have access to these here in the U.S.?
Those are a nice targets! Unfortunately, I don’t personally have stock for any product. The best option would be to order it from the Rigby website.

Thank you for your support!

I'll definitely order a dozen or so. I know a place where they'll be put to good use. ;)

Rigby's website lists these as out of stock, as I just bought every one they had. ;)

They'll be put to good use at the Big Bore Shoot at Gizmo's place.

I like these targets for practical economical practice. I wouldn't overthink the DG target set ups. I just zeroed at 100 yds based on my load's max point blank range.

Thank you for your support - we will try and get them replenished ASAP!

A nice Navy blue package arrived yesterday from England with 6 Rigby Cape Buffalo targets enclosed. I'll certainly buy more when they become available.

Please share some pictures of the targets from your shooting practice! There should be more available on the website in a couple of weeks.

For right now they will be put away for the AH Big Bore Shoot at @gizmo's Rockin G Ranch February 2027. We may use these for a simulated charging Cape Buffalo target.

Lots of exciting events planned for this get together.

I agree.

A MPBR zero is the way to go. But that could mean zeroing +2” or +3” high @ 100yds. It depends on the cartridge and the likely maximum distance of the game to be hunted.

A MPBR zero @ 100yds will differ if the max range for shots on a particular critter is 150yds versus 300yds. Again, what cartridge you’re using is a factor that makes a difference in the MPBR zero.

For African PG or DG, your PH should be able to tell you the typical maximum distances in his area that you’ll encounter the animals on your list or package. Base your 100-yd zero off that information.

Those distances will probably vary based on the terrain of the particular country (Zim versus RSA).

If you have a shooting partner a very good method of “charging target” is a milk just on a pull rope. If you can hit the just consistently head of a buffalo should be easy enough. If you want it higher set string between two posts with grommets like a cloths line

I've tried everything (I think) over the years. Nothing like a running target if you can get access to one.

Most of the time, I simply shoot paper.

With my double rifle off hand at 30 and 40 yards, I do the following with two shots.
(First shot within 5 seconds I mount the rifle to my shoulder and then follow up within 2 or 3
seconds. Reload the rifle and do the same again).
This drill helps me to put 4 bullets down range in less than 30 seconds. If I'm not being a Nancy Boy my groups look like below.

I know that Buffalo don't have orange dots on their shoulder but this drill really helps my hand and eye coordination.

Hi Dr. Ray, I will be in Cooktown from Oct 16 to Oct 23 fishing Lizard Island Black Marlin Tournament.

I have several "slack" days after fishing before I head for stay in Sydney and Fiji.

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
Thank you,
Bob

Good morning. I see that you had a Sauer 202 for sale for $3,000. Did you sell it at that price?
I have one for sale as well. I listed it (on here ) at $3,000 as well. Is the price high, low or right where it should be?

Thanks. Alex. [redacted] in case you want to call me to discuss further. I appreciate your time help and support.
