Shooters under attack in Australia

This gun restriction has nothing to do with stopping a another Islamic attack, its the left wing government best opportunity to implement their long term goal on disarming the people & the stupid people think they are being protected , we have a lot of stupid people in Australia the woke left breads them. i despise the current Federal government. You Yanks should be glad you have Trump.
Exactly. But why don’t you ever push back? What’s up with that ?

That is horrible news.

I don't follow Australian politics at all. Do gun owners have any political pull at all? Are there political parties against this silliness or are Aussie gun owners just screwed?
@RLD
In NWS we have the shooters,fishers and farmers party that's a very good group for us hunters. We also have sporting shooters association of Australia that's another powerful group.
These are proposed changes at the moment and still have to get thru Parliament.
Most politicians are saying it wasn't a gun problem but a terrorist problem that was not addressed by Govt but they will still try and attack law abiding gun owners with stupid laws to make fuckwit Joe public feel safer.
It's a load of crock shit.
Bob

Let's not have the mindset, "It won't happen here"! Once our current administration is out of office Gun Control will be at the top of the list for the Dems and progressives. They will use the horrible murders in Australia as the excuse. Speak loudly and Vote!

Why shouldn't your government think they can just take your guns with the stroke of a pen? You've allowed them to do it on a massive scale in the past--in fact, in your lifetime. Mad enough yet to say NO!? I'm not just talking when I say the government BETTER never come to OUR doors and demand it.

That’s interesting and I can understand where you’re coming from because you have a constitutional right to own firearms. Australia does not. Here in Australia it is imbedded in our legislation that firearm ownership is a privilege.

So, this is how simple it is. If the law says you can’t legally own firearms you have 2 choices. 1. Comply…lose your firearms and stay out of jail. 2. Refuse to comply and go to jail and still loose your guns.

Now back in’96 when the shit first hit the fan many of us protested, lobbied, marched and jumped up and down as much as possible. We lost. Both sides of politics screwed us. The media, all of the media, screwed us and we ended up well and truly fucked.

Anyway, I can see where you’re coming from. But spend some time in my shoes and then tell me what you would do.

And one last point. I hear that there’s plenty of sex in prison…and considering that we’re a popular fuck on the outside……what would you do?

Well said Bob! I hope you can make the idiot politicians listen.
@Doug Hamilton
I don't think they will but I live in hope.
At least they don't want all our guns YET.
IF we are limit to a few guns other sports should be limited as well
You don't need all those golf clubs, surfboards, cricket bats etc
Chefs and cooks will need to get rid of pointy knives and replace them with round nose knives because all those are capt of killing.
Don't forget cars they kill to so we will ban them to.
Fuck it let's just go back to horse and carriage, slingshots, spears( but they will need round tips to act injury), no computers( child molesters use them).
The world has gone to hell in a handbag.

Guns aren’t the problem. Radical Islam is. Nobody wants to talk about it, but (despite being a Muslim) you’re hearing it from me.

The father & son Jihadist duo studied at Al-Murad. An organization which stated in the past that Jewish people are the eternal sworn enemies of Islam. That should have been the first & only red flag necessary to cause alarm bells to go off. What did you think was going to happen ? It was only a matter of time.

Any half competent government appointed risk assessment analyst would simply make a list of every Islamic institution which teaches principles based based on the Hadiths (the Islamic books which declare “Holy War” against “Infidels”) and then suggest that they be shut down.

But instead of daring to speak out about shutting down institutions like this in Australia, the government thinks it’s better to tighten gun ownership laws.

This should speak volumes about the IQ of the people running things in our countries.

Fine, let them ban the guns. The Jihadists will simply start strapping explosives to themselves or start ramming cars into public places.

Oh, wait… they already do that.

In the US, most Americans think of Australia as a land of cattle stations and the vast outback. In reality, and something you in Australia understand all too well, is that your country is one of the most urbanized on the planet. The most recent stats I can pull up put fully 90% of the population in an urban environment, and the vast majority of those in the coastal greater metropolitan areas. Those populations tend to vote like our East Coast Corridor and the West Coast. Fortunately, our founders created the electoral college and two senators per state regardless of population to protect minority and geographic interests from regional tyranny.

I spent time in your shoes and it was uncomfortable because they were to small.
Seriot I hope they see some sense as it stand if you are a sporting shooter eg trap and skeet as well as hunting you will be able to have up to 10 guns but if you live in a major metro area they can't see why you need 10 guns
Personally I can't see why they need so many golf course they are a waste of a good rifle range.
Maybe we could combine golf and trap shooting. Golfer hits ball trap shooter tries to shoot the ball
Interesting me thinks. Two sport in area, problem solved.

@Hunter-Habib
I have a few MUSLIN friend and they are beautiful welcoming big hearted people.
In this case it was a MUSLIM that tackled one of the terrorists and saved a lot of people despite being wounded himself.
These people were red flagged by ASIO but still allowed to buy firearms.
During all the free Palestine protests I said to my wife I can see something bad happening. It won't be if it will when it happens.
The problem isn't religious, its extremism religious ideology and weak people being indoctrinated by it. Where are the people teaching this. That's right hiding because they don't have the balls to do the dirty work. Unfortunately you can cut the head off the snake but others will take its place.

You are correct. People love to be tough and blow hards on the internet or when talking to their buddies. But, in real life, people act much more in self preservation. Most the people saying they wouldn't stand for this and they would take those same rifles and turn them on the government are full of it. If that were true, they would have already done it where they live. Because the reality is, even in the US, gun rights have been greatly restricted in many ways, and there has been no giant uprising. The same people that talk tough are the same ones that rationalize why this isn't the last straw for them when a new oppressive law comes down.

It's self preservation. The reality is, that we live in a very privileged and comfortable time. We have a lot of amenities that weren't there in the past and most people's lives have a degree of comfort not seen in the past and the average person doesn't want to give that up. Which is reasonable, but it also allows people to be manipulated more.

But it doesn't stop people from talking tough on the internet.

Exactly Red leg. Most Australians have never been outback and most of those who have just fleetingly passed through as tourists.
I have been fortunate to live and work in small isolated communities. I currently live in Brisbane, Australia’s third largest city. Population around 1.5 million I think. Many of my friends and all of my neighbours have absolutely no idea how things work in the bush. At times I find their ignorance absolutely disgusting. The problem is that the barstards can and do vote.

I did not vote for them the stupid people did the middle eastern imports the people that rely on gov hand outs to live, the gov is breading the fools for votes its all part of their plan & people cant see it.
@rdog
I vote for the shooters fishers and farmers party in NSW.
In the feds I only vote for people that don't want to take our guns like Pauline Hanson, Bob Kattera few other and dare I say it that idiot Barnaby Joyce. He may not be the sharpest tool in the shed but at least he believes in gun owners and limiting immigration.
Bob

When I saw the breaking news here in the US I immediately said to my wife “ the law abiding Aussies are going to lose more of their guns”. The crown never wants you poor folks to own firearms. If it weren’t for the second Amendment Americans wouldn’t own guns. There are plenty of people here who would love nothing more than to take most of our guns and subject us to many rules. Right now gun owners have been gaining some ground. But the anti gunners will never stop imposing restrictions on them. Down under they are horribly blatant . May be time for citizens of Australia and New Zealand to get organized and push back. Turn it into a movement . Otherwise it’s only a few more shootings before none of you will own any.
Better envision what you life will look like when you don't have any--at the mercy of Islamists or evil government, etc. And better start seeing it NOW. You need your own version of the NRA

Demand your own second amendment. And stay at it full speed. William Wilberforce spent his entire professional life in Parliament bucking slavery. He finally won after 40 years. How bad do you want it for your posterity?
Begin by raising hell until all foreigners are off public assistance, especially for out breeding you.

That's why when people come to my house and see skins on the door and my Judy mount in the lounge room and ask where I got them from
It gives me great pleasure in explaining in a conservation hunter that love wild life and preserving it.
When I explain how I guns ( fair chase) and why I need different guns( use enough gun to prevent animal suffering) and use what I take( except certain animals) they usually leave with a greater understanding of why and have a greater respect for what and how I do it.
Maybe only small steps but if I change one person they can explain to others as well from an informed perspective. I may not change the world but I can get some to understand.

Good reply mate. Unfortunately a lot of Australians have had little experience with muslims. Neither had I until 30 years ago. I have worked in both Malaysia and Indonesia with and alongside of Muslims. I have also worked with Muslims in Australia. Long and short of it is that there are good and bag people in every religion and race. No religion has a monopoly on evil.

Our issue here in Australia is that our gutless politicians are, with few exceptions, woke and scared to speak out. Our Muslim community, for whatever reason I don’t know, are refusing to condemn the radicals. They are doing themselves a great disservice. And ought to be ashamed of their silence.

Australia today is not the country that I grew up in. It’s going down hill fast because of our “fucking useless “ immigration policies. We’re importing the scum of the earth.

I feel that most Australians have had a gut full of. I sense that we may be returning to an even keel. And as to our gun laws…..all is not lost yet. There is hope for reason.

I just hope that reason prevail with the current, almost understandable, loathing of Muslim’s.

Australia can’t afford to forget that an un-armed Syrian Muslim immigrant tackled and disarmed one of the terrorists. He was shot twice! He deserves a medal and Australia’s need to remember the principle of “a fair go “ .

Thanks for your post.

Bob, your preaching to the converted. I yell from the rooftops that I hunt and shoot. I’m taken more kids shooting than I can count. I’ve written letters to the editor that were published. I’ve written hunting articles that are published. I’m an ex country copper that was known as pro gun and an avid shooter. I’ve handed out how to vote cards on election day, held local office positions in a political party. Organised and marched in demonstrations.

I’ve done just about everything that I can do.
