Going on my first black bear hunt in October

Super interested in hearing how it went. Im in nc and been looking at going on a bear hunt sometime.

4 in my yard a week ago. Nice chocolate boar after a sow with 2 yearlings.

Since the suns almost down. Tell us how it went.
Saw a sow and her cub. No shooter tonight.

Good luck @Daisy in your quest to take a black bear. Is there a minimum weight limit to black bear in NC?

Here in Maryland we have a 'black bear lottery' every year, it generally takes me 4-5 years to build up enough points to draw a tag. Wish they would just make it like our neighboring counties in WV and let people add a 'bear stamp' to their annual hunting license.

Been lucky to have taken a handful of black bears over the years, I've mainly used my .308 and one year I used my .375H&H for 'kicks and giggles'.

I believe its open state wide with the exception of a few areas.

Congratulations

Congratulations! As others have said, black bear hunting is addicting. I’ve taken 3 bear in the last 4 yours. Your equipment appears to have worked great. My first bear was also taken with a 375.

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
