As I said, I'll take the lesser of two evils, which implies of course that both cases are evil.

Maybe if Trudeau hadn't decimated the Canadian military, you'd be bringing more game to the table and thus be more involved. This is an American created problem? Last I looked it was Putin who started this war.

I'll grant you however it was green lighted by a liberal Dem POTUS.
I’m not sure where you think I support the current state of the Canadian military, and I’d say there’s a longer list that Trudeau to blame for it being in shambles. It’s seems like our biggest defence issue is procurement. It shouldn’t take decades do decide on the purchase of an existing product, we aren’t creating Avro Arrows here, the F35 is an actual tangible good. It’s like the govt at the time drags it out so they don’t have to be the ones in the hook for signing the PO

Also, who was in Afghanistan with the Americans fighting a war that had ZERO national interest to their countries?

you dont think Al Queda was a national interest to the rest of the coalition nations?

You really believe that the US was the only country attacked by Al Queda, the only country that Al Queda had targets planned for, in the future, etc?

Surely youre not that poorly informed...

or perhaps you dont care about the 24 Canadians killed on 9/11? There were 372 people from countries other than the US killed that day... 12 countries (all happen to have been coalition members) have 9/11 memorials to honor their own dead.. these include Italy, Australia, and the UK, who were among the largest contributors to the war..

Off the top of my head in addition to the US...Saudi Arabia, Tanzania, Yemen, Kenya, the UK, Spain, Jordan, France and Germany all suffered direct attacks by Al Queda operatives at different times.. and quite literally hundreds of major attacks were foiled before being launched all over the globe over the years.. even more if you want to count all of the Al-Queda subset groups across Africa and Asia..

They were clearly a global threat to any nation that opposed their ideals.. their remnants remain a global threat today..

If you want to bitch about Iraq, depending on the angle you want to take, you may actually have a valid point..

After blowing up 4 narco terrorist boats, Maduro now says he is willing to talk with U.S envoys

Nah. ...keep pounding them. Maduro is a scumbag. He and his ilk have ruined that country.

FWIW we've been going kinetic with narco's fairly regularly for the better part of the last 40+ years... the only thing that has changed recently is the US is now releasing the information to the public.. which has caused Maduro to have to respond publicly..

There are more boats, mini subs, planes, etc sitting on the bottom of the sea right now than any of us can count that resulted from US "intervention" with various narco groups over the years..

Google "Air Bridge Denial Program" and "Operation Snow Cap"... that'll get you started..

there are/were several other programs as well.. those are just the two that IMO were the most well known and most publicly talked about outside of classified circles..

It wasnt a Colombian SOF guy that put bullets into Pablo...

My youngest son's squadron (out of Norfolk) was involved in a lot of that until 2022.

Back when people seemed to be capable of working together, the world/society needs a catastrophic event again to remind everyone how insignificant our moans, groans, bitches, and complaints are in the grand scheme of things and to band together for the greater good.

As far as Iraq, well it was what it was.

Sad... but there's truth in that statement...

9/11 brought the US closer together as a nation than Ive ever seen it (prior or after) in my lifetime... and for a period of time brought the US and its allies closer on almost all fronts (military, economic, culture, etc)..

Its pretty amazing how much of a difference 25 years can make... we're now as far apart as a nation and as allies (not just the US - NATO relationship... but look at all of the factors driving BREXIT, and other things happening in Europe) as Ive seen in my lifetime..

Hopefully it doesnt take another 9/11 to drive everyone back together.. but unfortunately, I think it probably will.. it is a feature of mankind Im afraid..

Nice overview of the left’s hypocrisy over the Kimmel situation.

Division makes people easier to manipulate. If you’re fighting because you don’t like the clothes your neighbour is wearing, you lose sight of the big picture.

The moment was there, but for a number of reasons it was squandered. All that goodwill is gone.

I remember the day after 9/11 the headline of Le Monde, a leading French paper, was "We are all Americans". Amazing moment.

How we got from that to "Freedom Fries" is beyond me.

Great opportunities wasted. Simply wasted.

I concur... lots of reasons... on both sides of all aisles involved..

We can blame Trudeau.. we can blame Trump.. we can blame Macron.. we can blame Tony Blair.. we can blame Merkel.. we can blame the EU.. or NATO.. or Russia.. or China.. or anyone/everyone we can possibly come up with.. the truth is they all have shit on their shoes.. who tracked the most shit indoors on the carpet is really just a matter of perspective..

Do you think government officials should be threatening to take away broadcast licenses over what Kimmel said?

It was an offhand remark on a podcast interview so I don’t really care.

People have concocted this conspiracy theory when it’s simply been blown out of proportion. Kimmel’s ratings weren’t good and affiliates wanted an apology. Despite all the hand ringing, the offhand “threat” may not even have factored into the decision in a meaningful way.

I’m not concerned by what happened at all.

In the 1950's and 1960's, Broadcast Licenses were threatened or fines issued for far less. Off color jokes, foul language, physical violence, flat out lies and slander etc. were all off limits.

The Sensors forced the original 1960's Batman TV show to edit out any physical violence, so the producers of the show found a hilarious way to get around being fined.

They simply covered up the physical violence with BIFF BAP POW for one or two frames. In 1966, every kid in my neighborhood ran around having mock fights and shouting the outrageous things they saw on that show.

Things were kept a little bit more civil back then.

Things were very different back then. But, if you have followed the history of free speech in broadcasting, you would know that that all took place under the old FCC regulations which were pretty much gutted under Reagan when he abolished the fairness in broadcasting doctrine and vetoed the Fairness in Broadcasting Act, which had been passed by Congress.

Before 1987 the belief was the the airwaves were a public trust which only an elite few had the chance to use and thus required special regulations to make sure that the use was fair, promoted diverse opinions and in line with community standards.

By the late 80's the FCC, and many other observers decided that there was now so many broadcasting channels out there that concern was no longer warranted and that in fact those restrictions were restricting wider expression of viewpoints rather than expanding them. So they dumped many of those rules and SCOTUS then made clear that with those technological changes that broadcasters were now entitled to the same free speech protections that newspapers had enjoyed for generations.

Sure, the timing was all just a coincidence.

Well, I guess somebody has to cheer for the mafia. Same week Trump threatened to go after an ABC reporter he didn't like.

Yeah you’ve really got to really watch out for that mafia… It’s really just like North Korea out there. ;)

Officials in the Dominican Republic have recovered 1000kg of Cocaine from the Narco Terrorist boat that the U.S military destroyed.
You know the gears have to turning inside those corrupt Dominican official heads over all that possible cash.......

Hey my friend, I am returning to SA for a Cape Buffalo hunt in June 26. My outfitter has suggested Highveld but I have read some poor reports. Wondering how satisfied you were with your mounts from them? Thanks in advance.
