Hello all,

I'm looking for a replacement stock for my Ruger Safari Magnum in 458 Lott.

Are there any leads on where to find one? Thanks in advance!

Numrich did have some. Got one from them about six month ago.
I had to call them, not listed on website
I'll give them a call now! I had checked their website and couldn't find it. Assumed they just didn't have them.

Curious; what happens to the one it was wearing?

Yes, Numrich was what came to my mind also. Good company and easy to work with. I hope that you can find what you're looking for/

Started to crack. Just got the call from Ruger's Customer service and was quoted $900 for replacement. Before accepting that I'm checking on alternatives.

I know you probably don't want to hear it but maybe repair it ? I am pretty sure that you can dremel or drill away a bit of wood under the tang and glass bed that area as well as push some epoxy into the crack and it will hold.

That "crack" is nothing, just a chip, you can fix it yourself good as new. You need to relieve some material at the rear of the tang and do a light bedding... also, check and recheck your front anchor bolt, if you have spaghetti arms invite your gorilla pal, Bubba, to crank that bolt in with the power of Thor, cuz that is what you need to do. On the Lott, I highly recommend sourcing a hex anchor bolt for the front and carry the key with you field.

I’ve owned a few of the RSM rifles, that were bedded properly from the factory.
As others have stated, relieve the tang area and have it glass and pillar bedded at the tang, and careful attention to the forward recoil lug assembly.
Find a gunsmith that understands the Ruger bedding system. My gunsmith has retired but I would check with Dennis Olson.
Other members here may have other suggestions.
Good luck these are special rifles.

Quick update for those interested. I opted to go ahead and pay Ruger to build and fit a new stock. Total cost was quoted as $965 including return shipping. Ruger does not keep an inventory of these stocks so time frame is unknown. I requested the original stock be returned as well, which they agreed. My plan is to have the original stock repaired so long as the stocks integrity isn't affected. I didn't take the rifle apart to inspect the severity of the crack as I didn't want to void any potential remaining warranty. Hopefully it is superficial, time will tell.

You can void their warranty simply by taking the stock off to have a look?

In any case a stock for under $1,000 is a steal.

It's a lawyer ridden world we live in. Common sense is a thing of the past. Ruger mentioned they believe the damage came from the stock screws not being torqued appropriately, therefore not covered under warranty. Seems like a scapegoat to me but I suppose I should have checked the torque beforehand and didn't. Live and learn.

The only SAAMI .458 Lott I own was found at Cabela's in Louisville, KY, secondhand rifle.
It is 2006 production by serial number, first year the .458 Lott was offered as RSM by Ruger, IIRC.
The old "High Tech" company is best guess so far.
Sumbuddy who know who made that stock ?
I have not been able to get Bansner or anyone else to admit to making it.
The stock weighs 1#15.8 oz with the steel RSM recoil plate permanently imbedded in forearm.
Dry/unloaded rifle weight is 8#14.2 oz, express sights only.
Barreled action minus recoil plate is 6#14.4 oz.
Carbon-fiber stock by grayish color inside ?

Xpedition Archery USED Scrapeline390X Sniper Gray Crossbow XACW1001 - Light Wear - Needs Bolt/Arrow Guide Spring UA5689

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc
