Good Gun Deals This Week

That's a very nice looking rifle, but what causes the darkening on the rear of the stock like that? I have the same on my Remington 30 Express, and the local gun store owner thought it came from someone leaving a slip-on recoil pad on for too long.

Your’s looks more like oil leaching into the wood to me, Cash. That darkening follows the metal plate, including (from what can be seen in the pic) the plate’s metal tang that extends forward along the bottom of the stock. Also, the wood that meets the rear of the receiver looks to show the same darkening.

But, I never saw oil soak in a straight line.

Spotted in the gun library at my local Cabelas in Allen, Texas. The price seems good and the rifle was in great condition, but that wood carving is just not my style.

We know this rifle well....

@RR 314 ...say it isn't so??
We do. I guess the guy that wanted it more than I did moved it down the line already. :-). He actually called me asking if I wanted it back as he had some unexpected bills pop up. I have transitioned from wanting every AHR on the market to the German masters. :-)

I called them on the Steyr, they said they pulled it for sale due to a potential issue with the chambering
I went up there in time for the doors to be opened, and...IT WAS SOLD!

...but thank God it was sold TO ME, Bwa ha ha-ha-ha. Cleanest 1903 I ever saw. Suspect it may be a Ferlach customized job, will find out....

thanks for the heads up AH!

Should of told him to sell it on here first :(

Well bummer, they refused to sell it to me over the phone. Glad it worked out for you.
I've been there....
OTOH, I went prepared to offer bribery and crocodile tears if necessary. Fortunately they were not needed. Nobody knew what the issue with the chamber had been, and they didn't seem to know much at all about mannlichers. The fact that there was not commercial engraving on the action ring threw them off--they thought it did not have a name. Which is why I suspect the action was ordered then customized. Stay well, friend.

I have a 1920 mfg 03 in 6.5x54 and the cartridge notation is on the bottom of the barrel- so the stock needs to be removed to see the chambering. My guess is the people at the store didn't want to remove the stock and so didn't know what the chambering was..

Agree....but a dead giveaway was a 6.5 x 54 cartridge head decoratively embedded in the pistol grip cap.

Also did not notice it has a flip up vernier sight.

Good morning John, I just read your setup procedure for the northstar duplicator ator. I found it very hand and I did learn some things. I have the same machine and I am having a problem i can not figure out and was hoping you could shed some light on the subject.
