Hmmm….I can’t help but wonder if this falling out between Trump and Elon Musk is by design and something they both mutually planned? Musk now a hero to the TDS folks. Smarter people than me can play out the various scenarios of how this may be mutually beneficial to each. I certainly can see some benefits to Musk in opposing the Big Beautiful Bill and opposing Trump and creating this squabble, perhaps all contrived?
I had essentially the same thought... is this some attempt at getting Dems to side with Musk again (since anything anti-trump is immediately good)? .... Genius play if this is actually planned.

But then I consider these two are both "Bigly" egotistical, and it sounds more like what I always expected to happen at some point: Elon disagrees with Trump, and Trump starts hurling insults. Then Elon responds because he has the platform to hurl insults right back.

just saw an interview of Scott Ritter USMC Intell officer, R. ,Not a follower of his, know nothing of him, but that he expressed vehemently he dislikes and [hates?] Trump.
What he said of the Ukraine drone raid of Russia aircraft was a bit alarming, Russia's nuclear doctrine states that any attack on their nuclear capabilities REQUIRES a response including nuclear of that country and the countries that helped execute the raid as written in their war doctrine. so their coming response could indeed start a major regional or ww. They have blustered before so it will soon be revealed as to there resolve as they are clearly not on the peace path.
Scott Ritter is former marine, UN weapons inspector, and convicted pedophile. Ignored by anyone who has any knowledge of international affairs, he has become an imbittered anti-American tool of the Kremlin. He is beloved by some of the far right conspiracy loons in this country. He is a regular guest of the Russian propaganda "news" programs where he condemns the US government and particularly US support for Ukraine while praising the Russian government and Russian culture. His last book was published in Russia and he conducted a book tour in Russia.

Russia is not going to start WWIII. Whether or not there would be a winner, Putin and the mafia that controls the country and its armed forces fully realize Russia would be the absolute loser. Russia spends very little compared to the US on maintenance of its nuclear forces. Plutonium devices require constant tuning and refurbishment to operate as designed. Russia's may all work perfectly, but then again a large percentage may not.

Russia's SLBM capable submarine force is under constant surveillance. Particularly since Finland and Sweden joined NATO, a Russian submarine can't flush a toilet without being observed. I have a high level of confidence that Virginia class boats would provide a warm greeting to any that entered a firing sequence.

What Russia can count on is that US nuclear TRIAD will work as designed, the weapons will strike within feet of their intended target, that the Russian armed forces have no way to stop them, and that Russia as state and culture will vanish from the face of the earth.

do you have said sextape?
If I had anything damning on the president of the United States the only way you would ever find out would be the change in my profile picture from John Wayne to a picture of me with a dead elephant.

This is correct. The mutual destruction theme is dissolving. Russia is no longer an equal Nuke threat. We would sink their entire fleet in two days. But they still have a few broken, rotten teeth in that old bear skull.

Israel has blocked Greta Thunbergs boat from reaching the Gaza. The defense minister stated that the boat may be forced to remain at sea, or escorted to Ashdod where all will arrested.
Welcome to the real world Greta.

I also believe that Russia doesn't have a functioning aircraft carrier....

I have friends that are nuclear engineers specializing in decommissioning nuclear vessels; we met up with several of their co workers in Seattle for a baseball game and went to a bar afterwards when the ex Navy guys started talking about how bad the Russian Navy was and how their combat readiness was a joke.

I was rather shocked to learn that Russia only has one aircraft carrier that was launched in 1985 from the Ukrainian black sea ship yard(Ukraine USSR) and wasn't fully operational until 1995, and with no port that is capable of appropriately servicing it; the Admiral Kuznetsov has been out of service since in 2018 when it was brought into Murmansk and the floating dry dock it was in sank, after being towed to another ship yard in 2019 there was a fire on the ship during repairs, then it was transferred back to Murmansk and stayed there until 2023 and as of February 2025 was still not operational.

Apparently they didn't have the infrastructure to connect the vessel to power in port so the reactor was constantly powering the vessel while docked and thus in a state of constant disrepair.

Did not know about Ritter being a convicted pedophile. I haven’t kept track of him since his days as a UN weapons inspector in Iraq. Certainly changes one’s opinion of a person. I can find no redeeming quality for someone with this type of criminal history. Thanks for sharing your perspective on the potential of Russia starting WWIII. A concern is Putin is simply no longer mentally stable due to illness and age combined with being a purely evil sociopath. It’s comforting to know our Trident subs offer an imposing level of lethality to the Russians that keep them in check.

Curious on your opinion on the weaponization of AI? Absolutely necessary to maintain our military dominance but scary technology indeed. Recently been using X AI Grok for both work related purposes and exploring its abilities. Indistinguishable from talking to a real very intelligent human at times although still able to discern a few “tells” that perhaps over time as it’s program evolves will become much more difficult to distinguish the difference.

How I could have used this AI tech as both an incident and operations commander in my previous law enforcement career, back then making critical decisions with perhaps only 50% to 60% of the information or less but relying on experience, intuition and sometimes a “gut” feeling in addition to the limited info, hard to process with fallible humans and antiquated technology at the command post but with this AI tech, easily upping this to perhaps 80-90% of real time data in a clear and concise manner in the near future, that’s a game changer, although we did purchase and utilize Palantir for intel and data collection purposes, this emergence of AI tech is simply mind blowing, I never could have envisioned this.

Some great minds like Stephen Hawking, Elon Musk and others recognize the danger of AI but knowing the genie is out of the bottle and all we can do now is place safeguards and a kill switch in an attempt to control it. One cannot help but conclude the very real possibility of AI evolving beyond the control of humans, even if humans utilize Neuralink to gain similar abilities but always being restricted by emotions instead of pure logic. Makes for a gripping sci fi thriller, except this could be reality. Easy to conclude why some compare AI as similar to nuclear weapons in having the ability to drastically alter humankind.

This makes me think back as a little boy to 1969, sitting Indian style wearing a cowboy hat, glued to our black & white tv, watching the first moon landing, eyes wide and completely enthralled as I watched Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walking on the lunar surface. It seems in some ways we’ve regressed since the Apollo moon landings, but now exciting times ahead indeed with AI infused technology and plans of a manned mission to Mars, if only humans could evolve from our destructive tendencies.

However, would using tactical nukes be looked as starting WWIII or a surgical strike on Ukraine? We do not have tactical nukes so our response, if any, would be the big hammer.

Another thing to consider is that the isolationists like J.D. Vance etc. could be looking at it as Europe's problem.

And it would bring peace to the war, albeit on Russia's terms. Similar to how it happened with Japan in WWII.

Tactical nukes were abandoned by the US because we realized that the promise of a limited tactical exchange was an illusion. The use of tactical nukes will ultimately lead to the use of strategic weapons.

That’s why systems like asroc were abandoned in spite of how effectively they would have been able to destroy soviet subs.

Umm... we still have quite a few tactical nukes in the arsenal..

+/- 200 B61 gravity bombs (about 1/2 of them are deployed across Europe at the moment).. Some agencies (to include the US Navy) report that there are as many as 500 remaining in the arsenal.. (there were as many as 3600 at one time.. so the stockpile has been reduced.. but many still remain, are maintained, and are ready to be dropped if/when needed)..

those are among a couple of other tactical nuke nasties that remain available to the US..

What we really disposed of were the Army deliverable munitions, which except for Pershing, truly were tactical vice operational (155mm and 203mm artillery).

I should add none of us were particularly excited at the thought of actually firing one from a howitzer.

AI scares me more than a little. I am not a programmer, but I did have several hundred that worked for me in a previous life. We kicked around the potential benefits and threats of AI enabled weaponry a lot 15-20 years ago. I am confident not one of them was entirely comfortable with the thought of a "learning" AI munition or delivery system. I am less comfortable now. Yet, we must have capabilities that at least match potential adversaries.

I see Germany's chancellor meeting Trump today , he spoke plainly saying they are supporting Ukraine ,{to bring an end to the war}, assuming he means victory, trump looked like he had eaten sour grapes. I cannot fully grasp what his position is sense he has already signed the mineral agreement with them and says we have a interest there.

I heard Trump answer Chancellor Merz, that "sometimes you have to let them fight a bit, and then you step in and pull them apart " WTF ?

Fighting a bit means thousands of people from both sides getting killed, but that does not seem to bother him, what a total disregard for human life.

But that does´t surprise me, these plutocrats, from whatever country they come from, just live in a different world, their own world, money and power. The rest of us, normal people, who work for a living is none of their concern

From Fox News....

Trump responded by providing an analogy of two kids fighting, and suggested perhaps it was "too early" to break up the fight between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"Sometimes you see two young children fighting like crazy – they hate each other, and they're fighting in a park, and you try and pull them apart, they don't want to be pulled," Trump said. "Sometimes you're better off letting them fight for a while and then pulling them apart."

What a f'd up thing to say!!!! What a f'king douche. He is so detached from reality with so many things, IMHO. He really has no filter and doesn't know how to shut up.

I dont think thats a lack of concern or a disregard for human life.. I think Trumps statement is a sad reality in many situations and he's just saying the things that no one else is willing to say..

there are conflicts all over the world happening right now.. most of which neither the US or Europe is involved in.. Why isn't Spain or the US sending troops or other aid to Myanmar right now or in some way trying to end the conflict there? Or Sudan? or the recent Pakistan-India dust up?

The truth is, its simply not in Spain or the US's national interests...

People are dying all over the world as this message gets typed.. and most of the developed countries could care less..

Combine that with a large segment of the US population is simply tired of being the "world police".. we have a 70+ year history post WW2 of involving ourselves in conflicts that in one way shape or form really don't overtly concern us.. Why did we really need to be in Somalia in the 90's as an example? Because Somalis were killing Somalis and people were suffering? Why were we involved in the Balkins? etc.. (while there may be strategic arguments that could be made for either, the average American doesn't understand why we would be putting our people or our economy at risk, why we would be funding the resolution for someone else's crisis, etc.)....

At the end of the day, the question really isn't about people and who is getting killed... both of our nations turn a blind eye every day to rampant killing of people all over the globe.. the question is what is in a countrys strategic interest? Clearly it is in Europes strategic interest to see the Russians crippled in this conflict.. Some Americans (perhaps most) agree that it is also in the US's strategic interest to see the Russians crippled in this conflict and saving some Ukrainian lives in the process would be a positive by-product of that... that said, there are many Americans that believe that Ukraine is not a US concern... they will go so far as to say seeing both Ukraine and Russia crippled is in the US national and strategic interest..

Lives lost as not much more than an ancillary concern unfortunately..

Do you think he actually connects the dots of the lives lost when he shut off Ukraine’s intel?
