My Red HB cape didn't survive tanning, and now I am in need of one. Let me know if you have a wet tanned cape ready to go. Any pics of face and ears would be great as well. As far as a price, let me know what you think is fair.

Also, location, as that will determine how much shipping would be to NC.

Figured this guy from the Eastern Cape with @KMG Hunting Safaris was to nice not to mount!

Thanks!

What happened, hair slippage, bad tanning? Can't the taxidermy who worked on the skin, help you with another one?

Don't limit yourself to "wet tanned" cape only. Lots of taxis dry tan African capes, and there is nothing wrong with mounting a dry tanned cape, after it has been soaked, of course
Wish I had something for you.

Not sure what happened, was told it was no good by the tannery. My Taxidermist is one of the few in the area that works on African game, so my driving distance options are basically none at this point.

So you are looking for a Cape already in the USA?

The best bet is to call taxidermist/outfitters in Africa but your costs will be high…

Yes in the US. Happens all the time where people end up not mounting something and have spare capes, and this forum is probably one of the best places to ask. I've had quite a few capes over the years that I ended up not mounting

I may shoot a hartebeest in August in the Limpopo, if I don’t mount it I can bring the cape in my dip&pack. Depends on the quality of the animal if I shoulder mount it or not but if I don’t you can have the cape. That will probably be delivered in early 2026 most likely.
Good luck with your search.

Charles, check your Whatsapp. I found one.

Thank you for this thought and offer! I'll see what turns up here before but I will keep this in mind!

Case closed ! ;)

Thank you @buck wild ! He went above and beyond in this request. Reached out in his taxidermy circle and had one shipped to my door in a few days! Guess all the storytelling and cocktails at Gilley's during the AH dinners over the years paid off :cool:

Appreciate it sir!

Although my memory might be fuzzy given the circumstances, I recall it was I who did the storytelling and bought the cocktails. To be fair to your statement, you didn't denote who the primary party of said affair(s) was. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:. I hope the best for your mount!

Here's the target for the NorthForks - 25yds off a bag, iron sights. Hunting leopards over dogs the range won't be more than that.

Flew in an airshow in Smyrna years ago, beautiful country.

Best regards,

Franco
