I think you would be fine on both buffalo and Tiny 10 with the 270 TSX

I shot these two Steinbok, with a 235 grain TSX @ 2850 fps. The heavier 270 will be traveling slower and has more mass... both factors will reduce expansion, all else being equal... the 300 TSX should be even better... just avoid the shoulder on the little guys.

To cover all scenarios, a trick is to choose a pair of bullets with approximately the same weight and BC (= same PoI): 1 frangible for hunting light to medium game and 1 harder for hunting medium and heavy game. Example: Federal Power Shok Soft 300gr + Barnes TSX 300gr

Your suggestion does not fit the OP's scenario.

I’ve found that it’s pretty easy to get different bullets of 300 grains to all group well together, if shooting the same load for all. The load we shoot in my and my son’s .375 H&H’s is 70.0 grains of Reloader 15, Federal 215 primer and various 300 grain bullets. We’ve got TSX, Bearclaw, A Frame, Nosler Partition and Cutting Edge Safari Solids. They all shoot to essentially the same point of impact. I shot a 5-shot group using 1 round of each bullet and group size was 1 1/4”. Individual bullet groups are around 0.75” or so.

I’ve had similar experience with my .416 Hoffman and 400 grain bullets. 79.0 grains Reloader 15, Federal 215 primer and the same bullets in 400 grain weight. 0.80” individual bullet groups and a bit over 1.25” using mixed bullets.

Rookhawk gives good advice in shooting tiny antelope 1/2 way back. I shot an Oribi last year with my 375. Quartering away so I shot it in left back leg. Cape is fine but the back half had a huge hole on right side abdomen from a 300 grain TSX.

You didn't experience any pressure issues with switching bullets? With some powder shortage I believe this is not a bad approach to take for developing loads with what's available.

No, we did not experience any pressure issues. But, 70 grains of Reloader 15 is not a hot load so that helps. IIRC, max is a grain or two higher.

Same thing with my .416. I’ve shot as much as 81 grains of Reloader 15, but find 79 grains more pleasant to shoot, so that’s what all .416 loads are based on, regardless of which bullet I’m shooting.
