I’m shopping for some 1” quick detach rings for use on a Murphy Precision picatinny rail for a heavy recoil 458 B&M.

Traditionally, I’d go straight to Talley and order, however it’s been 12 or so years since I’ve bought rings for a DR. Warne is also an option. These are heavy

Today, I came across a new to me brand that I found online and read many impressive positive reviews…Leapers UTG Max Strength LE Grade Quick Detach Picatinny Rifle Scope Rings. They are only 2.9 oz! Made in USA & a bargain @ $34.95.

What say you?
Any others I should consider?

The Leupold version of Cross slot Weaver rings are solid and reliable. Warnes are good, but heavy. I expect a 458 B&M to be somewhat of a carbine, wanting a lighter weight scope system.

Any Leapers rings I have seen are inexpensive aluminum (I don't care if Aircraft Grade Aluminum), made in China of dubious materials.

I would not trust aluminum rings on a 458 rifle.

If you want light weight and strong go for the Nightforce Titanium rings.

Talley or Warne for a little heavier option. DO NOT do the Leapers Chinese ones

By the way @Rule 303, NightForce didn’t make the right size 1” rings that I was looking for. Regardless, they make very nice quality rings.

The Talleys that I got were stainless steel, plus I had to order the levers separately…not cheap @ $203.56 delivered from EuroOptic.

Please don’t use anything Leapers for a DG weapon. I prefer Warren but Talley is also excellent. A couple of ounces is worth it for quality.

The stainless Talley QD rings from EuroOptic got sent back …found a much better price with levers included, free shipping & black matte. 1” low matte black Talley rings were not easy to find.

The Talleys fit perfectly and snug on the Murphy Precision titanium rail, perfect combination.

I have Warne QD rings on both my plains game 30-06 and 404J dangerous game rifle. Both guns have one piece bases (multi-syllable way of saying rails). Warne rings hold zero. Some folks don't like that they screw together on the top of the scope instead of the side. Doesn't bother me at all. They are a bit fiddly to assemble but you only have to do it once.

Warne for sure, I have installed many on both customer rifles and my own, never had a problem.
The weight difference is not even a consideration. Another benefit of Warne rings is that they don't tend to cause ring marks on scopes just so they are over tightened.

Sorry: NOT over tightened!
25 in. lbs. is the spec we use for Warne

I don’t use QD rings with the exception of the blazer R8. I have had too many issues over the years.

I installed my last scope in Warne rings and hated them screwing on top. I couldn't figure out how to check that everything was level since it was basically installed with the rifle on its side.

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
