Who's Hog Crazy? Show us those Pigs!

There are species I know I’ll have enough at some point. Pigs are not one of them. My largest warthog. I’ve yet to take a large bushpig boar but this was a very memorable stalk and long shot at last light in the Karoo. A large European boar from Sweden.

Plenty of big pigs all over Texas. Just got home from the final weekend of deer season where we took a big sow and a management 8 point.

Plus warthogs from RSA to Namibia…I’ll always shoot a good warthog on safari.

I actually miss having pigs close by. Used to hunt them on public land in Florida and Hawaii. Would love some of the African varieties and a truly large European boar.

1988, Sundarban mangrove forests. Shot with .22 LR BRNO Model 2 (loaded with 40Gr Eley Club lead point) for Royal Bengal tiger bait (it didn’t work but at least I got a wicked pair of tusks).

Pigs are a lot of fun and most of mine have been taken at night. I have yet to see a great warthog for some reason. I've never seen a great one on the hoof. By great, I mean something like this...

Really old bush pig...had evaded hunters for several years but we finally got him.

I’ve killed a bunch of pigs living here in Texas. I was hoping to get a warthog on my trip to South Africa last year. But didn’t see any.

Folks just don't realize HOW MANY we have to get rid of in Tx--and we're not really making a dent in the populations!
Brothers and I killed about that many on the Matagorda ranch south of Childress, but some of them were much smaller. Couple big sounders and suddenly you are sagging the leaf springs on a half-ton. They insisted we kill all we could. Meat went to Hunters For the Hungry.
Good haul, ya'll.
