Just getting Remington hyper velocity 140 grain 270 cartridges.
Any comments on their performance??
I cannot hand load to achieve the advertised velocities.
Interested to know results particularly on deer.

Hyper Velocity made me think of this Ray!

How do the Remington loads compare to Hornady's Superformance loads?

From what I’ve read they’re the same
But I cannot get the Hornadys here
Interested in their performances especially on deer with the 140 grain bullet

In the days before having a chronograph, my pet load for the 270 was a 130 gr Sierra cup-and-core. Accurate, and very effective on deer and pronghorn. Later, found it only chrono'd at 2,600 - ruined it for me!

I used that bullet but had velocity around the 3000 fps mark.

Funny what a chrono, some experience, and the new powders will do... 3,200 is pretty easy now. More with some bullets. Point being: 2,600 killed 'em just as dead.

Extra velocity isn't needed for killing, it's used for easier shots at range. A velocity of 3200 will mean you need less compensation at longer distance.

Exactly. Chasing velocity will do nothing for you except increase recoil and muzzle flash inside 400 yards.

I realize that

Long distances where I go after fallow

I have not used the Remington 140 but I have used high velocity loads from hornady as well as 270 wsm and 270 weatherby loads.

A little extra velocity will work fine in my experience.

@Dr Ray
Before I converted my Savage to a Whelen it was a dare I say a 270. Loaded with 139 grain ACPs it was chronographed at over 3,200 fps with zero sings of pressure using the max load of 2213sc but it was a freaky little rifle. That load dropped a big sambar in its tracks. It was like someone pulled the ground out from under him

If'n y'all go after fallow at longer range get rid of that 270 and git yersef a nice fast 25. Far better option. A nice 25-06 loaded with a Barnes 100gn TTSX or 110 gn eldx at 3,300 to 3,400 fps. Shits all over the 270 for flat shootin.
