Well, I've got my eye on a pretty little Philly as we speak. Thinking of pulling the trigger, so to speak, tomorrow. So many 416 components, so little time....

I have and use larger rifles but there's just something about the .416 that works better than average...and with the 500/416 you get the bolt gun Rigby velocity in a double. That's going to be a great combo. Boddington wrote..."Regardless of which cartridge, the various .416s with 400-grain solids generally offer better penetration than true big bores in the .450 to .475 class."

I agree. The 500/416 NE is a perfect blend for a double. Big beefy case for powder and readily available bullets
The Empty cases fall out with ease after the shot

Would you ever consider a 500?

No sir. For my needs, I just don't have a use for a 500. It's an excellent caliber, but I just feel it's not really necessary as a client rifle. To me, something in 416 or 458 caliber is about perfect for my use on Buffalo, Elephant, ect. . A 470 in a double is also great, but the 500/416 or 450/400 is what I would go with if I bought another double.

Idk if this is any good, it was a recommendation. Featuring Krieghoff's, however.

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
