Any guesses as to what you think this rifle will go for?

"Commissioned exclusively for DSC's 2024 Convention, this one-of-a-kind bolt action rifle is chambered in the venerable .416 Rigby and represents the pinnacle of the gunmaker's craft. Made entirely in-house by HEYM in Germany, it is the finest rifle ever auctioned by DSC and embodies almost 160 years of HEYM's gun-making experience."

Current bid is 46,500. My guess is it closes north of 150k….

Not sure where it will stop.. but it will sell for significantly more than its actual value..

Many of the super high end auctions end up becoming opportunities for guys with significant amounts of cash to make "donations" to DSC.. and they will very intentionally pay well above retail/MSRP..

a couple of years ago at one of the banquets we watched a pair of gentlemen playfully bid up an elephant hunt to a good $20K more than its actual value.. the guy that "won" the hunt immediately donated it back to DSC and had them auction it off a second time.. where he and the same other guy bid it back up again to more than its value.. and then allowed the second guy to win.. who then "donated" it back to DSC so they could auction it off to someone that really wanted an elephant hunt (the third winner got a very nice deal and walked away with an ele hunt that was a good bit less than what he would have paid for something similar out on the convention floor)..

Last year's version sold @ $87,500. This one will do better.

Good looking rifle for sure.

Here's a photo of Tony receiving that Shaw & Hunter award at the 1970 annual EAPHA Dinner Dance. Tony Dyer, then EAPHA President and Princess (Sunny) von Auersperg presented it. I also attended the event.
