Good Gun Deals This Week

Quite a few Winchester Model model 70 Alaskans in .30-06 popping up on GB. Holding out for a super grade in same caliber…

Second the deals at Primary Arms, I picked up a surefire x300 at a steal from them

Leupold is on sale right now at Midway for $100 off.

Delta Point (discontinued ~2015) and Delta Point Pro are different footprints. Make sure you know EXACTLY what you are getting from AHR. It's listed as "Delta Point" without the Pro.

BTW - The Trijicon RMR footprint fits a myriad of different optics including the RMR, SRO, several Holosun and SIG as well. Lots of options to choose from.

A LGS here has a Winchester 70 (Made in USA BACO Browning?) walnut/blue with a 3x9 Leupold scope for $850. Looks brand new, but I'm not sure if it's a fair deal or about a 7mm Mauser?

Great rifle and caliber combination, and might be in the ballpark of a fair deal. For me, it would depend on the overall condition of the rifle, how well figured is the walnut stock, and which particular model of Leupold is the scope(?).

For comparison's sake, in September 2022, I bought a preowned 2013 FN/BACO Featherweight in 270 Win with a nicely figured walnut stock and in great condition (without a scope, but had some bases) for $650; which I thought was a pretty good deal. Turned out to be a nice shooter too. Fundamentally they are great rifles, and I would be thrilled to find a good deal on one in 7mm Mauser.

Well, the wood isn't as nice as yours, but looks new and has the same checkering pattern and looks to have Leupold bases. I wasn't paying attention as to the model of the scope. Probably an older version but looks new. I'll go by tomorrow and see if they still have it. It had been there for at least two weeks since the last time I was there.

Keep in mind that the equivalent Featherweight new retails for about $1,100-1,200 nowadays, when you can find them.

What makes you think the one I've described is a Featherweight? I don't remember if it said that or not on the sales sticker. I'm not that familiar with the newer M70s.

My bad, that was an assumption on my part; guess i just didn't read your post closely enough.

If it has a stock shape and checkering like mine, with the schnabel forend, it is most likely a Featherweight. If it happens to be a Super Grade in that caliber, you have found the deal of the century. Either way, I think with that caliber (7mm Mauser), most sellers would be asking $1k+.

I don't know? I'll look at it tomorrow if it's still there. I'll let you know. They also have a Browning A Bolt .300WM, light brown camo synthetic, brown cerakoted, removable brake, no scope ASKING $450 on consignment. Barely used. I know that doesn't really fit within the likes of this crowd, but might be a fair deal with today's firearm prices?

I love that deal at $450 :)

Agreed, that A Bolt at $450 sounds like a deal.

And, unless there's a surprise gremlin with that 7x57, I don't see how you could get hurt at that price.

@CoElkHunter The more I think about it, the more inclined I would be to go buy that thing if you can. As far as I can tell, Winchester does not currently offer the Model 70 in 7mm Mauser, making it all the more desirable. I love that caliber, so I'd be all over it if i were you.

An A bolt for $450 is a good buy. Accurate, three Position tang safety. Ok trigger, can be stoned. Most are sub MOA rifles
Brownings. Even todays that are made in Japan are a bargain and shoot far above their weight class. The Japanese models are actually better.

The only negative I would call out on an A bolt is the tractor tire recoil pads. After time they turn very hard. Easy fix.

I just gave my son in law this one after he killed his first elk with it this fall

Sans the Buffalo leather sling I had made.

Here's the target for the NorthForks - 25yds off a bag, iron sights. Hunting leopards over dogs the range won't be more than that.

Flew in an airshow in Smyrna years ago, beautiful country.

Best regards,

Franco
