Montana Rifle Company Model 1999 505 Gibbs

I do like the big bores...was hoping you'd say that you'd decided to keep it to remove the temptation :sneaky:

Price drop to $4k let’s get his sold. You won’t find a quality 505 at this price.

How does the Montana rifle builds compare to AMR and other custom 550 builds.

Sorry, AHR

Of course, who isn’t lured by the sight of that bore :>))))

Don't sell that thing! ;

However, I understand.

No experience with AMR I would not be able to comment.

Not as fancy, but very well made. Every thing is the right size. Some don’t like the 550 in 505 because of bolt head size.

I had 2 of these in Montana actions....both were SS..This is a keeper...I would like it with a 20" barrel and banded front sight ..Ebony Tip on shortened forearm so 20" barrel is on proportion ...a nice low power scope in QD and some premium bullets at 23-2400fps! Hey Kid does anyone make a composite stock for them or do you have to go custom?

Pendelton Composite Stocks make them for MRC. Full disclosure...I have no experience with them but have heard good things.

If you were interested in keeping the wood stock on this rifle, nearly any competent gunsmith should be able to raise the dents in the wood and refinish it the way you want.

Pendleton is GREAT! ...They can also make it and bed it for YOUR rifle...They busy is the catch..They are in Oregon and have alot of options and colors etc..[emoji1783]

Thanks Bee, the wood is still fine, I just wanted less weight. I know MPI would also likely do a custom.

Bee, it’s 11.6 and I want about 10 to 10.5.
Fair enough. Always easier to add weight later if needed, than try to put one on a diet.

If I hunted with my rifle on my shoulder like most people l wouldn’t care if it weighed 20 lbs. I carry mine in my hands. Try it sometime and tell me about the gym.

Almost all my workouts are with dumbbells, even squats. When I train for the mountains I have an 80# bag of concrete on my pack frame and a 20# kettle bell in each hand. I walk for miles like that so when I carry my 11.5# rifle in my hands... I'm good with it.

You can adjust your workouts to accommodate your hunting goals too. It just depends on how you want to approach it.

Man. I thought I was doing some working out! I'm gonna have to step up my game, you're doing some hard core workouts! I need to start carrying some weights in my hands while walking. I always have had a girlie grip. Ha ha

Hemmingway "Out of Africa" dinner for our clients

We love going the extra mile for our clients. The best feeling in the world is our clients going "Wow! this is amazing thank you"
Having had a successful hunt, having happy clients leave camp. There is nothing better.
Knowing that they will return again next year as a friend.
