Death threat at DSC over rhino auction

How does a group formed to save local animals from abuse (SPCA) step on to an international stage and start commenting about conservation policy of a sovereign nation. As well as flout the CITES policies.
Astounding in their egocentric ignorance.

Hope the FBI finds these criminals.

All DSC is doing is essentially acting as an auction house for the government of Namibia - like Sotheby's.

Which is lost on the zealots.

All of you down in Dallas take care and be safe.. I wish I could be there. So sorry for those that have received such horrible threats.

If they can't come out face to face they are nothing but cowards of the first order!

Unfortunately, the Dallas Convention Center is privately owned and is posted so that TX concealed carry holders (and accepted non-residents) can *not* carry there. I'm guessing there will be a pretty big police presence. I'll find out tomorrow when I go to the show.........

You can't fix stupid.

DSC has handled the press well with all the correct statements. The local media is making a lot more out of it than is there.

You can't fix stupid.

That is what one of my military shooting buds says. It should be framed and hung around the necks of those deserving the honor

I wasn't at the auction last night but the hunt fetched $350,000 USD. And according to one PH that was there, 12 protestors showed up.

350,000 WOW who says the economy is in the toilet

A thing that I find interesting is that not only did it bring $350,000, but at least 1 other bidder had to be involved to take it to $345,000 or whatever.

I'm in the Dallas airport now and was at the show yesterday. I promise you this threat didn't hurt attendance one bit. Yesterday was crowded for sure!

If the protesting organizations were serious they would bid on the hunt and put the rhino in a sanctuary to live out his life.

I never saw a protester. Of course we were in Dallas not D.C., NYC, etc.

+1

When I left yesterday around 4:30 or so, there were about 20 people out with signs and of course the media had to be there to show them and ignore the 10s of thousands that attended the show.

Given the previous death threats, I think that they must not have been allowed to be very close to the actual convention center as the small groups that I saw was north of the building a block away.

That would be great and all, but then that money would never contribute to the rest of the breeding herds and salary for the rangers, scouts, vets, locals etc. Those against this hunt don't see the bigger picture. They seem to ignore the success that Namibia has had with it's rhino population. And this is coming from a liberal vegetarian. I see the logic and I congratulate DSC for standing strong in its resolve. Respect, DSC!
