What is the top lever supposed to be on both of those rifles? And antelope with its head down?

In that case, I’ll take two!
Don’t do it. I’ve owned one in this exact caliber. Ken Owen regulated it and it shot great. Problem was stock cracked. My thoughts are in the heavy calibers the stock just will not stand up

I owned one and no issue, post cabelas fiasco model.

I have a hunch that cracked stocks in big bores may have more to due to shooters placing them in lead sleds for sighting in. Sure, flaws can always happen, and so. However, depending on wear the crack was, guessing somebody locked it tight to a weighted sled.

You may be right…I bought mine used. The crack was a hairline one. Could very well have had the previous owner shooting it from a sled

It’s a shame the screws are buggered. Maybe the price could be negotiated too. I was just thinking it might not be a terrible solution for someone with an older rifle with claw mounts and no rings who wants a scope too.

Although they might not work with just any rifle/claw mounts?

Would it be a stretch to think the CAB in the S/N means it was one of the famous Cabelas rifles?
I think you are correct. From the detail provided by the Blue Book of Gun Values, Cabelas was the exclusive importer from 2009-2012. The description seems to fit as well.

Great way to add $5000 to the cost of the good rifle you end up buying eventually anyway.

Most of my hunts are solo — just me, my rifle, and a good map. Sometimes I tag along with an old buddy for a week in Zimbabwe or South Africa, but more often than not, it’s just me.
Big fan of classic hunting — bolt-action rifles, old-school tracking, and taking the time to really be in the moment.
Just did a podcast, check it out if interested!
