    17 mach IV
    280 rem
    375 h&h or 9.3x64
these are favourites, but also like 7mm stw when appropriate.
in fact a 7mm rem mag might have to supplant the 280 and stw if it had to be.

I don't expect to hunt anything that is really far, or really big or dangerous, so:
22LR - for small things that are not far at all
.308Win - adequate for most things
.338WM or .338RCM - for a little bit larger things

Been one of my Leopard follow up guns for years, "Poor man's double" as I could not afford a proper double. With original Brennecke slugs at close range it drops anything. Shot many warthog and bush pigs with it as well.

In the corn fields and thick bush again loaded with slugs it is great for bush pig hunting over hounds, safer for the dogs and other hunters as well.

    Light weight and very fast.

    IvW,

Let me first say that I tremendously enjoy reading your posts and gaining your perspective on things. I think this is a quite brilliant option as a poor man’s double rifle that I had never considered before and may do so for myself. When you say you use the original Brenneke slugs are you referring to what they’re now calling the Classic Magnum?

    Hi Jake

The ones I have are the Original Brenneke slugs from Germany. 2 3/4 inch(Rottwell). I also load my own in solid brass hulls(not the thin ones). I have 45 original Armour brass hulls that are thicker and work very well. The slugs have a nice tight fit and they work without needing to keep the slugs in place.

Just looked on internet, yes those are the slugs.

Shot many animals with this combination and still do.

If I get a chance over the weekend I could send you some pictures of the gun and hulls.

    All the best.

    Mr IvW,
I see you are also a BRNO man of note!
GREAT stuff... I'm looking to replace my 30-06 in Remington ADL with a BRNO 30-06...then all my firearms are BRNO except HOWA 6,5 CREEDMORE and 12g O/U Winchester.
