I will soon be building a 404J on a FN action from the 50’s. I’d like to keep it old school/ traditional and would like to know which bluing process would be better suited ? Thank you for all and any help.

cant go wrong with a charcoal blue. im not sure they'll take your gun, but turnbull restorations are masters at color case hardening, and multiple different styles of bluing

10-4, I need to research and try to find out what bluing process FN used back then. I’ve always liked the look of rust bluing

Cold rust bluing all the way on a classic rifle.

completely agree....

finding someone that does a seriously fine cold rust blue can be a challenge... but there a guy on the NW side of the DFW metroplex that does it for a fair price (about $300 for a long gun)... he did a 300HH that was built on a enfield action for me a couple of years back.. the quality is exquisite..

Not sure your price range. Have a 375 H&H with a muzzle brake. Nice rifle only fired a few times. Also a Mossberg 375 Ruger its been used and shows a few hunts on it.
Two African Safaris Hunted South Africa both times,
9 game animals taken
Has anybody hunted with Phumba safari in steenbokpan south Africa?
