same goes for me if you get down to the Dallas area.
In fact, it is only a 90 mile drive up to The Boars Nest in OK where you could kill a hog or two with either my .405 DR or my .45-70 DR. In fact, if you live near Fort Collins, CO, I can set up a meeting with a maker of double rifles. W. Ellis Brown. He is also a fine shot on running and flying game and has hunted boars at The Boars Nest with me.

Thanks a lot for the offer on both accounts! My in laws live north of Ft. Collins, but I wouldn’t want to waste Mr. Brown’s time as I am not in the market to purchase a DR, just curious about them? I’ve seen videos of their use and they are the quickest, slickest rifles for two shots I have seen! But, if I do plan a trip for pig hunting, I will get ahold of you before hand. Thanks again!

one has to watch this Ivan Carter video only once to decide if they find a double rifle worth the money, ammo, practice etc. I say... they are worth it. i hope this posts properly, watch it yourself and decide.

ALSO, when watching the video, pretend you are shooting a bolt action rifle instead of a double gun and then honestly access if you could have made the shot without being a pile of red goo.

far as i am concerned, they are worth it. if you think you could reload and shoot again with a bolt gun, you are a much better man than I!!

It is above all a commercial of HEYM. They are very well done and achieve their goal.

These situations are not so rare and the majority of the hunters and PH who are only armed with bolt action rifles would have to be dead in the meantime. That's not the case.

Wow, that is a very rare find….please show us some pics… What load is it regulated for...100 or 110 grain cordite..or Axite perhaps..?

Francotte made a lot of quality double rifles...you really need to try it on elephant..

The price was at the beginning Euros 12000 , not too expensive , but that did not interest me initially since I already had a DR caliber 577NE built 1909 by Webley & Scott. After 2 years they wanted to get rid of him , called me and offered it for half the price. A unique opportunity and I bought it.

Initially he was offered to me as a rifle built by Dumoulin. After talking to that company has turned out that Dumoulin has never made a rifle caliber 600NE. After that we first noticed the typical oval with AF for Auguste Francotte on the barrels. To determine the age , you have a code on the barrels.

The powder weight is normally not indicated on Belgian rifles , only that the rifle is regulated for FMJ bullets. As with by the Proof House in France but one can assume that he was tested with the maximum charge. I reload my cartridges like the original load of 100gr of cordite for a muzzle velocity of about 1850 fts. It's enough recoil.

If I want to go hunting elephant with a DR , I would rather take my DR caliber 577NE , but why not the 600NE. I have shot so far almost all my elephants with a scoped bolt action rifle caliber 500 Schüler.

This video shows something else too. It shows EXPERTS using double rifles. It's like doing a commercial for boxing gloves and showing Mike Tyson using them. They ain't gonna work the same for me....

I'd bet that 95% of client double rifle owners dont put in the practice to know how to use one, and therefore dont need one. There is a big difference between looking cool with a double over your shoulder in a picture and using one properly....

Heck, most dont use a bolt gun well in a high stress situation, much less a double. I've shot my bolt a lot and I think I do it fairly well. I always do reloads while still on the shoulder. I still have a bad habit of picking up my head during the cycle though and taking my eye off the scope. In a charge maybe that mistake makes the difference....

Double, bolt, single shot can all be used! You must practice ALOTT!!! with your chosen rifle. I shoot all three and practice the manual of arms with them and snap caps till I can do it in the dark. I shoot two shots faster with a double, 3 shots faster with a Ruger #1, and 4 shots fastest with bolt gun when I practice the required amount to get competent with the platform. I perfer to stalk in close and be able to use Irons or a red dot. Understanding that I will miss opportunity’s that I could have taken with a scoped rifle. But I am good with that and discuss in depth with the outfitter and PH before I book a safari. I hunt with all three platforms but my first choice will always be a double for DG. For plains game and non DG will use the best tool for the job based on location.

In reality man has been hunting and taking DG with spears, bows, and even slings for much longer than gunpowder has been around, some weapons are just a bit more effective.

So no matter what platform you plan on using practice with it till it is second nature so with you get in a stressful situation your reactions will be there despite needing to change your shorts.

Wiliam and his brother Charles Jeffrey were clever guntraders and makers ,also John Rigby and some others.
They anglicized the German products and names, so it was much easier to sell them to their countrymen in the empire.
Especially after WW1, the Englishmen got themselves bloody noses and nobody would have bought a German product, even the German Shepherd Dog they renamed.
