What slings are you using on your double rifles?

No double, but I can’t imagine putting a sling on one.

I have carried my Merkel 140 on quite a few deer hunts, it has the sling mounts on it, but I haven't put a sling on it as of yet . I will for my next hunt . The double is heavy and I don't like carrying it on my shoulder . Always have a sling on my bolt rifles.

The sling loops are narrower than most of my bolt rifles I think.

Just curious what you more experienced guys are running and how you like them.

Thanks!

For africa i don’t use slings on my DRs given i hunt in such thick jess in zim. i have learned to do a 45 degree africa carry practicing with a steele bar so everyone is safe

Heavy to carry all day. 10 seconds to remove it at go time....
Agreed. My double is a little over 10 pounds and I didn't want to "Africa carry" as I believe it to be unnecessary. With QD swivels, when it was time to stalk, I just took the sling, folded it, and put it in my back pocket.

I mostly carry my 470 in Alberta in November, while taking my son on whitetail hunts. It can get quite bloody cold, hanging onto the steel barrels or action for a hike just isn't pleasant for me .

Hanging the rifle on the sticks with a sling is nice, I don't like having to lean it against trees in the snow that much.

If I ever make it for a buffalo hunt I might think differently, but a sling for here I think would be nice.

Most of my hunts are solo — just me, my rifle, and a good map. Sometimes I tag along with an old buddy for a week in Zimbabwe or South Africa, but more often than not, it’s just me.
Big fan of classic hunting — bolt-action rifles, old-school tracking, and taking the time to really be in the moment.
Just did a podcast, check it out if interested!
