What scope mount is this?

I have tried reverse google image searching, I've searched tons of photos, etc. I could always replace them with another type of mount however I cannot tell if the holes are "standard" mauser spacing used for Talleys or Leupold bases. I'm interested in the gun, the mount just threw me off. Looks like a european version of a Leupold base, front dovetail and rear twists in then must clamp from each side.

It's a VZ24 sporterized. Using a Brno barrel in 7X64.

It appears to be a classic swing mount, as is currently produced nowadays by Recknagel, but this one looks as if it was adapted to this rifle. I suspect that the bolt action was not pre-drilled so that mounts could be screwed on.

Vz.24 was a military action with stripper clip port. No port on this one so either the port was filled in and machined down or some other action? I suggest calipering the hole placement end to end, making a diagram. Then compare to hole placement for various two piece bases and even one-piece bases/rails to see if something will match up to holes in your receiver.

This is the reason why the front screw of the rear base is more behind.

Ah. So stripper clip port is still there, just not visible in this photo?

I suspect, otherwise it would not explain the position of the screws on the rear base. The standard manufactured bases have the holes in different places.

Ah I was confused. I was thinking of the EAW bases and thought it didn't look right because they have a "loc" tab on the rear base. I was lumping Recknagel into that same company. So ignorance on my part.

Thank you very much, you are 100% correct I am sure it is a Recknagel style mount. Hopefully same specs as current made Recknagel so rings will fit on easily.

I'm not able to measure the holes as it is an upcoming online auction. It is a military VZ24 action as other pictures show the military markings. Seller says BRNO manufactured in 2001 but I'm sure they're just using a BRNO barrel, as I'm 99% sure BRNO wasn't sporterizing stuff, especailly at that time.

I took these off of an older Zeiss Diatal 6x42. I believe these to be made by Recknagel and of the same vintage as the bases on that BRNO.

I'm kicking myself. I passed on a ZKK601 in 7X64 a couple weeks ago and it went for a fair price. This VZ24 is already going up and will soon be a bit much for what I view as a sporterized rifle. Nice work but I would have much preferred a ZKK

ZKK 600 has the standard length action, ZKK 601 has the short action.

Of course you could finagle me out of those if it turns out they could be of use to you but the rear ring is 26mm so scopes that would fit are few and far between.

FYI, Dirtdart, most 26 mm rings will work just fine on 1" tube (25.4 mm).

Thank you for the correction. I can see where this style of "cap" would work with either diameter.

I have seen a 26mm tube scope scope that had been clamped down in a pair of one inch rings (Weaver or Redfield can't remember) that gave a new meaning to "ring marks".

I see that style would likely work. But I have an American Herkner and Kollmorgen 26mm mounts and neither of them will mount a 1" scope without shimming. Completely different style of clamp though.

I find it interesting all the various methods of scope mounting. Most needing custom fitting (to a degree). It's easy to see why many classically styled rifles have had their lines ruined by Weaver bases. They're ugly, but very easy to use.

25.4mm(1”) and 26mm rings are different. A 1” scope in 26mm rings will require shimming. A 26mm scope in a 1” set of rings will get buggered when tightened up. Leupold made 26mm rings years ago. I have one set.

Accumount supply shims so that 25.4 tubes can be mounted in 26mm rings.

That’s what I have on all my rifles, double-barrel and single-shot. At least it’s more or less the same. Mine are called KRIEGHOFF SCHWENKMONTAGE. One cane use different scope lengths with one mount.
