Anyone know? is this a felted rug?

Typically, a Shield, is the decorative wooden board that a shoulder mount or Euro mount is atthed to. Separate from the wood backing the shoulder mount form is attached to.

Felted rug, refers to either the decorative felt edging around the rug, or the fully felt backing of a rug mount.

Thanks, I think you are right.

I sent them an email about rug cost. It looks like felt and head mounts are another $100-300.

This is mine,

Yeah that is not what I am talking about at all.

With the exception of the warthogs, steenbok, duiker, porcupine and cape...those are just what they call bleached skulls. Basically, a euro with no plaque.

Very nice. I didn’t know they would carve the skulls like that. Really like the carved warthog.

Splitting Image calls a skull on a piece of wood a shield mount. I got another email explaining this from them a few days ago.

In America I think European mount is the term for a skull mount. Growing up in America I have always called it a skull mount.

Having spent 10 years of my life in Europe I do not know anyone that calls a skull mount a European mount, so I am not sure where that came from.

Splitting Image shields are fairly basic for that price. I think I would just pay for the cleaning and call it a day.

I realize how hard the bug has bit. I’m on the cusp of safari #2 and I’m looking to plan #3 with my 11 year old a year from now while looking at my work schedule for overtime and computing the math of how many shifts are needed….

I'd like to get some too.

My wife (a biologist, like me) had to have a melanoma removed from her arm last fall.

Hallo Marius- do you have possibilities for stags in September during the roar? Where are your hunting areas in Romania?
