I have no dog in this hunt...just curious. I see they load 300gr solids, 300gr Oryx and 350gr woodleigh soft nose bullets.
I have all three for for different reasons for each. The solids were super cheap and used them to sight-in my scope. I use the 300g Oryx for almost everything. I have the 350g in both FMJ and Weldcore. The African PH line is now extremely hard to find. I suspect because of the Woodleigh fire they were not producing those. Perhaps another reason might be Norma's new owners don't want to make a line that has limited sales. Or maybe both.I have no dog in this hunt...just curious. I highly disagree. The oryx is a very soft bullet. The Oryx is equal to a Swift A frame. I use to use it a lot, only ever recovered two of them out of around 150 PG shot with Oryx 300gr. One full leght penetration on a good Blue Wildebeest, frontal chest shot and cut it out under the skin on a back leg, 85% weight retention. The other one I broke the shoulders on a huge Zebra stallion and ( unbeknown to me) it hit a blesbuck around 100 meter behind the stallion, entered centre chest and we cut it out under the skin beside the tail, 89% weight retention. Used Swift A frames loaded by Norma for a while too, no diffrence in penetration between those two.

I’ve shot a few blue wildebeest and eland with my 7x57/275. The eland was injured and it was a mercy killing. It would not be my caliber of choice for eland. However the wildebeest folded up without too much drama. 175 grain Nosler Partitions are my African bullet. My Bergara rifle shoots 180 gr 300 Win Mag Norma Oryx bullets very well. 3/4 MOA with two of the holes touching in 3 shot groups. I could not get any of the 8 other ammo types to shoot sub MOA. It seems the consensus is that the Oryx is good for PG but not for DG.
Do you think Oryx are good for large PG like Eland and Wildebeest? Thanks.
I think there are considerably better options available. I used the same load in Tanzania this year. I shot a wildebeest 3 times and had zero exits and the skinners didn’t recover the bullets. The bullet I posted above is from an impala at maybe 100 yards. I think the oryx is likely a good bullet at lower velocity than 300 win and with heavy bullets but it’s very soft compared to others. My Bergara rifle shoots 180 gr 300 Win Mag Norma Oryx bullets very well. 3/4 MOA with two of the holes touching in 3 shot groups.
