Hi all,

Purchased these .423 projectiles for the 404 Jeffery not knowing brand. Loaded with RL15 got them doing 2270fps and under 2 inch groups at 100m.

Question is, what are they? Pictures attached for reference. Recovered from a wild Bull here in NZ, retained weight 354grs, original weight 400gr.

Cheers

The gunshot projectile looks like a Woodleigh but tbh the recovered bullet with distinct petals doesn’t. Here are 4 woodleighs rnsn recovered from Cape buffalo at between 15 and 60m

What caliber and how much gas? Different velocity can produce quite different deformation in same bullet.

Agreed…..
Profile and crimp groove looks like Woodleigh to me.
Smooth crimp groove does not resemble current production on their website with "reeding" in the groove. Perhaps an older model?

Possibly an older non-bonded jacketed lead bullet?

Agreed and the deep smooth cannelure doesn't look like Woodleigh and the "petal" formation isn't like Woodleigh......

The 400 grain Woodleigh FMJs in my possession have the smooth cannelure much like an A-Frame. The 450 grain softs look the same as the 400's pictured.

The Harkilia stuff works well in Africa - I have a bit for use here in UK.
I am again looking for 600 Nitro dies preferably RCBS 1 inch. The set I purchased previously are 1 1/2 inch and do not fit my die. Another member has graciously taken them off my hands. If anyone happens to have a set of 600 Nitro Dies that will fit my Rockchucker Supreme RCBS press, please shoot me a message and thanks in advance for any assistance you may have to offer!
I have not posted any items for sale on this forum and will not every put anything for sale. My account was hacked and I've worked with the admin to get things shut down.
