Reading Martin Peglar's 'Out of Nowhere,' and listening to a friend who has hunted extensively worldwide, the classic fixed mag Weaver scopes are rated as being incredibly tough no frills tools. However both my friends scope and Peglars book are a few years old now; and little is as it used to be in my increasingly jaded opinion!

Does anyone have any experience of using the current Weaver K Series? I am thinking of replacing my ageing Pecar 6x45, or at least having a back up for PG.

Thanks for any replies.

I have the current Weaver 6x, with parallax reset to 75yards. It is mounted on my ZKM611. Friends of mine also use that scope on their hunting rifles, both are chambered for .303Epps and built on Lee actions but hers is lighter.

They are excellent scopes and a brand new 6x38 would have to be brighter than your old Pecar. Reticle subtension at 100m (for the thin lines) can be taken as 10mm. If you want further info on reticles, Weaver sent me a spreadsheet about two or three years back.

I've put old classic weavers on some older rifles like Remington 721, 722's and older Marlin levers and they are great. Especially the fine crosshair with Dot reticle.

Cheers chaps. Sounds like a goer. I really appreciate simple scopes. Nice that Weaver have a decent basic scope still available.

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA

Hello - I was looking at your post from several years ago regarding the Winchester 300 H&H. Any chance you still have the lefty M70 300 H&H for sale?
Thank you, Mike

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
