It's been a while since I've posted any updates about our little piece of land.

My granddaughter was here in Jun, and of course we had to go fishing. Granddaughter did really well, and caught her first fish all by herself. She casted the lure and caught the fish all on her own. No assistance from Grandpa.

Yesterday, we were checking out the trail cameras and feeders and found more wild Lillies. I did a google search and these are called Spider Lillies, and rightly so, they do look like spiders. LOL!!! Beautiful flowers, and they were all over the place. I'm glad I caught them in time, the flowers only last 2-3 days.

The bucks seem to be growing nicely, and hopefully they have spread their genes in our area.

Those are going to be some nice bucks. Hope you get them and not the neighbors.

We’ve been feeding them protein, but it’s too early to see any true results. These are the type of deer we have in the area. Luckily it much hunting pressure around. Hopefully they show up when we are in the stands. We had two big ones survive the season We are hoping these are two different ones.

It sure does. Very gratifying to watch the kids enjoy it. Can’t wait for her to be able to hunt.

Some of the local talents are regulars at the feeders. Hopefully they will stick around once hunting season starts. Next month can't get here soon enough. I believe the big boy is going to kick all the other bucks butt during the rut and run them off.

Interesting brow tines on that buck! He’s a good one. Good luck on bagging him before he runs the others off.

I hope I get a crack at him this season. But, truthfully, my best friend's dad (85 years old) has never shot/killed a deer this big, and he has been a tremendous help with our mobile home. I was talking to my friend about it, and we both hope his dad gets the first crack at him.

I always find almost as much satisfaction in growing a nice deer as killing one. That would be really cool if you get him a shot at his biggest deer ever at 85

In southern Minnesota farm country where I came from, you are only allowed to use shotguns with slugs and muzzle loaders

Yes, we are. In the direction we shoot, we are clear without any homes in the area and it's all wooded.

For a while, my wife and I had been discussing/planning on buying some land to have a little piece of dirt we can call it our own. So, after months of looking in Middle Georgia, and not liking the areas, or the prices, she finally found 26 acres about 35 minutes from our house. We went and looked it with the realtor, and my wife fell in love with the property from the moment she saw it. To top it off two deer jump off the bush and greeted us as we walked in the area.

We did a survey and everything checked out good. The property has a single wide (she is looking forward to fixing it, her HGTV project), a 3/4 of an acre spring fed pond (with big bass in it from what the neighbor has told me). It has two wells, electricity, and a septic tank already in the area. We've seen deer every day we've been there and that is a great sign. There are about 3 acres that are cleared, and the rest is a combination of hard wood with some scattered pines. I noticed a lot of oak trees, and some very mature trees, which will feed/keep the deer in the area. We need to clear the area from overgrown (not managed) grass and try to keep it looking clean. There are some mature peach and pear trees on the property already.

Yesterday we did the closing, and in 5 years this land will be ours. To say that we are excited is an understatement. I know 26 acres isn't much, but with the cost of land, this was enough for us to enjoy and hopefully pass it on to our kids or grandkids. We’re excited to make the most of the property and enjoy every step of the journey, and resources like CiraNet customer service can be helpful when managing property related details. Our little pond. Wife is already planning on a sitting area so I can sit there relax and smoke a cigar. I love the way she thinks.

Congratulations to you both! That sounds like an amazing piece of property, and having a pond, mature trees, wells, septic, and plenty of wildlife already there is a huge bonus. Twenty-six acres is more than enough space to enjoy, improve, and eventually pass down to the kids or grandkids. The pondside sitting area sounds like the perfect place to relax with a cigar. Wishing you both the best with the new adventure!

Thank you! The pond is one of my favorite places to sit and smoke a cigar. We have an old Gazebo we are going to put there with chairs to enjoy the area.
