We bought some land

Already have about 10 peach trees, a pear tree, a fig and grapes. I’ll be fighting the deer to get some fruit from the trees. :ROFLMAO:
I don’t know about the legality in your area but a nice hide away feeder or two work great from Texas hunter products

The place is really shaping up!!

Congrats to you and the Misses,

The bucks around the feeder are impressive, I would think some serious shed hunting seems to be in order as soon as they start dropping their antlers.

I was thinking along those same lines.

Make the place to nice, and before you know it there'll be no more scratching, burping, farting or other Manly Man things that happen at Deer Camp.
You know he is starting to make this nicer than my house lol!!!! Some “deer camp”. However I refuse to be a hypocrit. 21 years ago now I bought 107 acres from my uncle that had a run down double wide but great bones and did the following: Spent $6,000 just running power all underground to give it power so not to destroy my woods with the home in the center of property. Put in beautiful two bathrooms with custom vanities and baths, new wood floors throughout, entire new custom kitchen yes custom then tore out two of the four bedroom closets to make the rooms larger spending about another $12,000. When I was finished my dad and cousins loved it and we had some awesome deer, turkey and coyote hunts. I also became quite the trapper catching raccoons, Oppossims and foxes. I sold it after my wife died and kept a secon property now 40 acres. So enjoy your posts on your progress!!! Brings back awesome memories for me!!!

Thank you my friend! My wife is really digging the place and she can now come with me and hang out while I’m out hunting. It’s a win, win. (y)

Thank you!! We will be feeding them protein and hopefully the protein will help out, and get bigger deer, while helping out the doe population too. (y)

I thought about shed hunting, but it’s a bit swampy, but I’ll give it a try while I walk the property. We’ve seen turkey, so I’m planning on hunting them this spring. I’m also thinking on thinning the coyote population. Should be fun.

Sounds like a new deer stand or two is in order

We currently have three stands with feeders. Looking for a spot for a fourth one, just to have options.

Since the weather spared our town, we decided to continue taking stuff to the trailer. So, I tested the waters with the first mount and a humidor. No complaints from the Commander in Chief. :ROFLMAO:

If you get blowback just sigh say ok I’ll take it back to the house. It works well for me at least :ROFLMAO:

Congratulations on living the dream. Middle Georgia has some incredible deer. We hunt Hancock County on an old 2,500 acre plantation. The county has been QDMA for a good long time and the deer are solid. On the last weekend of deer season in Georgia, I shot a meat doe that was as big as buck. She had thick fat which we attributed to an acorn-heavy diet. I wish you many good years of hunting on the new property.

Alphafa is the best thing to plant crop wish if you have the soil for It .Its super good for deer and grows like crazy .

Sounds like wet ground. May have to look at a wet tolerant clover (white or alsike perhaps).

The mobile home sits in about 3 acres, and we’ve been thinking about some small food plots. May have to look into it.

Alfalfa needs near a neutral pH and well drained soil. And takes a lot of water. Clovers are much more forgiving and dee love them. If you can grow soybeans they love those even more! All the above are legumes.

100%, one problem with beans would be you have to plant A Lot of them, deer won’t let them get over 3 or 4 inches tall and will destroy a crop. Forage beans can handle a little more browsing pressure but you still need a minimum of 4 acres to have any to survive to bean production stage.
At least this is what I’ve found on my property in coastal Alabama.

In my little neck of the woods hogs are not a problem, we have them close bye but only the odd boar or two have shown up and I’ve been able to kill them quickly.
It’s only a matter of time though until they show up in mass.

Unfortunately, GA is overrun by them, and I have them on my property. It seems like the usual suspects about 6 of them, and they are regular on one side of the property, and they usually show up around 1 AM. :(
