Water buffalo and double rifles up close

Do you know these guys Ben? I'm thinking about going back to Australia one day too. Would like to be able to take 4 or more bulls on the same trip.

I’ve met one of them on the road years ago, had a beer with him. But both outfits have an excellent reputation here in Australia and Mark and Tim (members here) can readily and very happily vouch for Big Country, I believe. I know some of the country these blokes hunt and it is magnificent! Proper, proper wild! I believe these two companies offer the best bang for the buck at very competitive prices without cutting corners on the experience.

Thanks for the info. I go back and forth between taking 1 or 2 bulls and the cull hunts where you can take 10-12 cows
.

Go for the bulls and perhaps one gigantic old cow. Shooting ordinary cows is, to me, not a great experience.

I'm curious. Why would you want to shoot 10-12 cows? Do you just like to hear the gun go bang?
I understand trophy hunting. I totally understand meat hunting. I disunderstand random killing.
I know I'll be sneered at (again) but I really just don't get it.
Please elucidate. I'm not snarking here, I just don't get it, so please blow your snot elsewhere.

I’ve done it lots, and it sucks. Culling to get rid of buffalo from cattle areas; culling to protect springs; culling because there’re too many and they’re struggling waiting for the rains to come. Even when you get as much meat as possible it still isn’t enjoyable.

My understanding is that the cull hunts on offer make good sense from an environmental standpoint and the meat is harvested and put to use. It is necessary, but I’d recommend a visiting hunter focus on bulls and huge old cows.

As Benny said, Big Country Safaris and True Wild Outfitters do great work in remote country. Had personal experience with Alex at Big Country Safaris and will be back with him in September again. True wilderness hunting up close and personal. Has huge buffalo cows as well…

All of this but also culling is an opportunity to get field experience on bullet performance.

I just got back from my second hunt 2 years running with True Wild Outfitters, just posted a thread about it, link below. You won't be disappointed hunting with True Wild Outfitters!

Aaron Corbett will put you where you want to be, he is a great guy and beautiful area he hunts!

Hallo Marius- do you have possibilities for stags in September during the roar? Where are your hunting areas in Romania?

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on another rifle but would love to see your rifle first, any way you could forward a pic or two?
Thanks,
