Wanted Swarovski Z6i Gen 2 1-6x24 EE

Looking for a Swaro Z6i 1-6 with extended eye relief. Either the CD-I or 4-I illuminated reticle. Preference for the railed version (SR) but also open non-railed. Thanks to anyone looking to sell!

That is a different model.

A Z6 1-6x24 EE is not the same as a Z6i 1-6x24 EE. (Illuminated)

The gen 1 to gen 2 difference for a Z6 was simply the shape of the adjustable zoom bezel.

Wow. That’s a deal. Non-Illuminated new old stock EE have gone as high as $3800. Selling the illuminate for $2500 is a deal Indeed!

A couple of years ago Natchez dumped their remaining inventory of Z6i 1-6x24 EE’s for somewhere around $1,400. Like an idiot, I only bought one!

That’s a fair deal on a fine scope.

I have been trying to find a Z6i 1-6x24 EE scope here in Australia for a couple of years with no luck. Those that have them just won't give them up!!!

Absolutely. In fact, if you look at the range of scopes, offered by most scope makers, we find that they are so hung-up on scopes for long range shooting or for three-gun events, that they have lost the plot on big game riflescopes. Not only did Swarovski drop this great scope but also Leupold dropped the illuminated version of the 1.5-5x and Trijicon dropped the TR21 1.25-4x. These were all illuminated scopes with lots of eye relief, that we ideal for dangerous game rifles, and what are we left with? Not much at all!

The Z8 only has an eye relief of 95mm (3.75") which is a LOT less than the 120mm (4.7") that the Z6i 1-6x EE version had. So there is about 25mm (1") difference in eye relief. I wouldn't consider anything under 100mm (4") eye relief for even a .375 and for .416 or similiar, you really do need around 4.5" of eye relief. Yes, I know there are hunters using shorter eye relief scopes, and state that they have no problems, but, in my opinion, they are just 'Weatherby eyebrows' waiting to happen. In the heat of the hunt, you only have to shoot from an unusual position, or crawl up the stock just a tad too much, and you are going to get thumped in the head. I often wonder if the reason some people can't shoot big guns as accurately as they can their smaller calibres, is because, in their mind, the fear of being bitten by their scope is interferring with their aim. At the critical moment that the sear breaks, the shooter should ONLY be thinking about where his/her sights are pointing and not whether they are going to get hurt.

I just bought a first focal plane Nightforce Atacr 1-8x24 on the 15% off sale from SportOptics. It is built like a tank and has a 3.7" eye relief. I also love the reticle. Yes, designed for the military and 3-gunners but our needs are not that much different. I also prefer mrad over MOA.

I respectfully disagree. Big game hunters, using calibres of .375 or greater, need more eye relief than most manufacturers are providing in their scopes. I wouldn't mount a scope with an eye relief of only 3.7" on a .375. See my other comments about eye relief in the post reply above.

I saw that post. It works for me on my .416 and .458 rifles. I'd submit it also works for countless others that have at most 3.7" of eye relief on their scopes.

Now if one mounts their rifle like the pic below even a 4.7" eye relief might not help.

But indeed, regardless of models and whats new and better, the bottom line is the Swaro Z6 1-6x24 and the Z6i 1-6x24, both in the EE extended eye relief model, are the best that ever was or is.

When I see non-illuminated Z6 EEs going for $3000 it sort of indicates the madness. It won’t be long and Swarovski will surely have a special order Z8i 1-8x24 in an EE configuration. #4 reticle of course.

I did end up buying the one from @Justin. Arrived yesterday and it is excellent. There are other benefits aside from eye relief from heavy recoil. If you are using it to shoot instinctively at 1x with both eyes open the further away from your face the better as it will open up your peripheral vision around the scope. Not a huge difference but it’s noticeable.
