Wanted Pre 64 Model 70 In 416 Rigby

Sir G&H built one (that I know of) however Al Biesen built two! One for a friend of Jack O’Connor and the other for another close friend owned a sporting goods store in Idaho.
I happen to own that rifle. It has traveled the world. Been to Russia for brown bear, Africa and took the second largest lion ever recorded (none of this by me).

Pictures for your review.

I know this is an old post but I have held the Al Beisen 416 Rigby in my hands, it belonged to the well known PH Mike Fell, then of Danny Mc Cullum Safaris in Tanzania but Mike now operates under his own banner. It was a FANTASTIC rifle with a super fold up aperture sight mounted into the rear scope base ….i have since made a number of those.

I have a 416 Rigby on a model 70 but it's a later controlled round feed. Ted Blackburn did the metal work and supplied the bottom metal. The later action is longer than a pre 64 and adapts quite readily to the cartridge. The Winchester custom shop made at least one as well. which performed perfectly. They wanted to make it a regular custom shop offering but the legal department wouldn't allow it because the action had been modified. A friend tried for years to buy it and they wouldn't let go of it.

I thought I would run a search for the Winchester factory 416 Rigby just for the heck of it and found that Winchester did sell the one rifle in 416 Rigby they made.

Wow a push feed m70 in a cartridge almost bigger than the action.

Shit-show!

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
