Wanted A Square Rifle

MPI make a Coilcheck fiberstock also for Asquare rifles.
( unless the current maker fashion has become skinny fatfree stocks that is .)

3 weeks later...6k value into 20k+ value. Wonder if he knows what the RIA auction went for...

Damn, what a spread of values on these things. That's insane.

Probably a good thing I missed this listing on GB. I had an idea to pick one of these beasts up simply for the novelty of it.

***the magazine will NEVER accidentally open on an A-Sq rifle. LOL I think AA saw to it. They are exceedingly difficult to open when you want to. I think you were supposed to use one of the original sling swivels to open it, but I ditched them in favor of Uncle Mike's and simply cycle the rounds out with the bolt now. My only peave about the Enfields, but it could be worse (Rem 700 350 Rem Mag-1,500 rounds through the bbl and 3,000 all over the ground!) LOL now-sold it. Some guns are so uninteresting, you simply must wave the white flag and surrender them...
You wouldn’t happen to know where to get a set of the original sling swivels would you?

Pachmayr flush mount swivels...Browning used them as well. They pop up for sale on forums and ebay. Just keep an eye out. They typically aren't cheap when found unless you're lucky.
Thank you sir
:E Shocked:

'went through the same thing years back. i have a (aftermarket) set, but i'll have to dig to find out where i got 'em. 'think they were known as pachmeyer style swivels. they are strong, but very awkward and weird. lol i wound up installing uncle mike's conventionals a short distance away. sacrilege. they are still used on some military guns, and i believe a black-ops type company sells em.

Most "heavy" barrels will not allow room for "flush cups". The stocks are not thick enough. Tactical rifles usually side mount the flush cups.

I’m curious to see what it goes for now.. I think it may be the same rifle?
This is a "Reserve" auction with a minimum starting bid of $4000.
My opinion of auctions with a Reserve is not good. They are trying to sucker one into bidding a little more...
I've known women like that. I learned to run away from them!
Just set the starting bid minimum at whatever the reserve would be. Full disclosure.

Ok, I know I said I would post a pic but after locating said item I must rescind my offer. Let's just say it was not well stored! If someone absolutely must have one I will send pics directly but it will be a heavy lift to make good again. Sorry to bait and switch.
Udate: Happy to report that my action found a home here in Texas. It was bartered for some of the best BBQ I have had. The new owner (AH member) is crazy enough to own and shoot a .577 and wants to build another!

Very, you could build it for less than a third. I have a barrels action in 585, maybe I’ll push it out to 577trex and Mpi stock it.
What action did you use? I have a 585 bbl on order from McGowen - was planning on using a modified Remington 1917 Enfield.

I agree it is overpriced but I wonder what it’s really worth. Definitely more than the $4500 or so it costed new 10-15 years ago and probably more than the $6000 it “flew off the rack” for on GB a while back with the Buy Now option. No matter how you replicate it it won’t be a true A Square. They don’t make them anymore.

Winchester, back in the day that’s what the old smiths used. I always was told it was bigger and stronger. It has a McGowen barrel. Also have the same in 505 gibbs. When you get your barrel the contour maybe what they want you to have and not you ask for. Pm me if you need to talk.

Very true.
