Just ran across a .257 Bob and need something to feed it. Looking to purchase either once/unfired brass or factory ammo. Might have some trade fodder as far as other factory ammo or components…

I don’t have much trading experience around here but I have completed one ftf transaction with a fellow member and I’m more than willing to chat via phone with a seller or trader. Thanks in advance!

Check Ammoseek.com, I think 257 Roberts is readily available

6mm and 7x57 brass can be used to form .257 roberts, just lube and run it in your .257 roberts resize die.

I'm in the same boat with Tina's .257. Several years ago when we bought it, 257 was scarce, but you could scrounge it if you knew where to look. PPU has plenty of 7x57 Mauser brass that could be sized to .257 if the head-stamp is not an issue, and it's really good brass.

Nosler is the factory load that her rifle likes the best, but I haven't seen any for nearly a year. It was $87.00 a box when it was available from Sportsman's Warehouse. This ammo shoots inside of .75 inches out of her rifle, so she holds onto her stash with both hands.

Sportsman's Warehouse does have Hornandy Superperformance in stock, BUT, it's in store pick up only. If you know somebody in Loveland, CO, that location has it in stock for store pickup.

BTW, be careful out there. Anytime there is an ammo shortage, it seems like crooks come out of the woodwork, and there are websites that advertise that they have XYZ ammo in stock, but if you do a search of that website or gun store, you find out it doesn't exist. It's just a bunch of Shysters ready to take your money before they vanish. Buyer beware.

I appreciate the feedback so far! Looks like 117gr is the only factory loading available right now according to Ammoseek. I might go ahead and get a couple boxes just to have something, but I'd really like to get some brass as well so I can experiment with a few different weights.

It looks like 7x57 PPU might be the most economical option...by a significant margin. Not crazy about having headstamps that don't match the chambering, but I suppose beggars can't be choosers.

go on gunbroker usualy if you find a 257 for sale they have amo to sell to

I may have some factory 257 lying around somewhere. Give me a few days as I am feeding steer growing big deer and then when the rain and snow starts I have to go back to the home office to put myself to sleep writing door stopper reports LOL I use the factory ammo to fire form improved cartridges but I have more than I will ever need
