I'm taking my Savage 308 and Ruger 416 on my upcoming trip to Africa. My Ruger 416 shoots great , but I really like the Accu trigger on my Savage. I don't think Accu trigger can be installed in Ruger 416. Any suggestions on something similar to Accu trigger that will fit Ruger 416?

The accu trigger is just a single stage trigger with a lightly sprung faux second stage installed.
Timney makes a trigger for the M77. They are coming out with one for the American. Maybe one of those fits your rifle?

Why change it at all? As you say it shoots great. I have the Ruger 416 Guide Gun and it’s got a great feel to the trigger.

Accu Trigger is much better. hoping to shrink moa with smoother trigger. one can never shoot too tight moa, especially when hunting DG.

I replaced the trigger in my Ruger M77 Hawkeye African (9.3×62) with a Rifle Basix trigger. Mine is adjustable from 8 oz to 2.5 lbs. Very crisp and has overtravel adjust also.

I have replaced the trigger spring on several Rugers with the LC6 trigger. Extremely easy to do. A new, lighter spring is less than $10. Take the stock off the barreled action. The spring is easy to access, not disassembly required. Replace the stock. Might take all of 5 minutes to do.

I became a trigger snob a few years ago. I have a $450 Bix N Andy in a custom rifle, and everything else is a Blaser R8.

If you upgrade the trigger on your Ruger, you will end up putting something like a Canjar in your Savage.

Thank you everyone. I really appreciate all of your input and guidance.

Nice rifle, I've had mine for a couple of years. Jard makes a trigger replacement kit for the Mk II and Hawkeye rifles. I retro-fitted my Mk II International .308 Win. with a Jard trigger kit. Excellent trigger, the pull is 2 lbs and breaks clean. Huge improvement.

The LC6 trigger on my .416 Ruger Alaskan isn't too bad, I think I can live with it. I think the Jard Mk II / Hawkeye trigger kit should fit because the Alaskan is a Hawkeye.

Autofire and I live close. I picked up his rifle and used a Cratex fine diamond dust, flat polishing bar and put a mirror finish on both sear faces and also on each side of the trigger where the pivot pin goes thru. I then took a flat faced set of pliers and fully compressed the reset spring and released it a few times. Coated the sear faces, pivot pin and pivot faces with a dry lube and resembled.

Smooth as glass with just a very slight take-up, no different than factory original. Breaks clean at about 2 3/4 lbs. Still the same factory over travel. Butt stock drop test from 18" and all was fine.

Total time - less than 45 min.

Not sure if he's going to decide to replace it now or not.

Hi PaulB. Would you be interested in another WJ Jeffery .450/.400 NE 3". It's an extractor model and in superb condition, cased as well. Made in 1908. The rifle is here in Texas.
