Recently visiting a friend and out hunting in the mountains, I shot this waterbuck far from the nearest road and required some hard work to get it out.

Congrats on the successful hunt!

I’ll have to dig for some pictures but it looks a lot like the same kinda fun I had on a hunt for Mountain Zebra in the Gamsberg Mountains west of Windhoek. We were absolutely nowhere near the truck up some craggy mountain. I wouldn’t change a thing if I had to do it all over again.

I shot this black wildebeest a long jaunt from nearest road which is well out of sight beyond camera range below the beast. A good two miles. Six of us took it out in a "sail" with shoulder poles. They would only let me carry the gun and daypacks (with lots of water bottles). Very rough going. Quite rocky and broken country. Thankfully mostly downhill until last half mile. But of course a waterbuck is considerably larger animal. Somewhere between a mule deer and elk in size.
