We are taking the boys down to the forest in the panhandle of fl.
Tomorrow for there first fishing trip down there.
Probably will not be many big fish but a lot of fish.
It’s bacilly creek, over flow and ditch/canal fishing with a few ponds that were made back when they were digging sand to make the roads in there.
There some good bass and brim in the ponds.

The rest will be little cats, warmouth and mostly pan fish.
Just a fun day with there uncle and dad.
The biggest goal is to have fun and catch a mess of pan fish and not to get stuck by a cat.

If you do get stuck by a cat, rub the catfish slime on the jab. Slime from bigger fish is more abundant and effective. I'm a big believer, having been in the situation. It will cut the pain and speed the healing. It's the little devils with the sharp fins that will get you.

Depending where in the panhandle you go, try to go to Crab Island....It's a blast.

Yea and there a lot of the little mudcat down there

Probably going in fh13 down to the old tates hell boundary rd. Apalochilacola
There a few good spots on 119 to the fl river around 125 if I remember right.
But not sure how it’s going to be.
I have not been down since mikle came through and from my understanding there was a lot of damage there.

Looking forward to some pictures, good luck!

I can’t get the pick to load
Just got back close to 50 small cats
A few ok chain pickerel
And a lot of small brim
Kept one brim most of the little muscats and a few of the pickle
They said they saw some one eat them on utube and they wanted to try them.

If I can get where I can post pic I will
They had a really good time
We are tired.
I spent most of the day taking cat fish off of hooks were they would not get stuck

Found a primitive came new since the last time I was down there
Fwc put a pond with a few feeder in. We saw it leaving have to try it next time.

Any one down there 119 second bridge and fh13 last bridge was good on the cats. Just remember there mud cats not blues lol

I have a few more but I can’t get the up.

Oh one big bonus about being down there we had no cell service for about 4 hrs or a little more
No spam no messages that was so nice
And they had so much fun.
They all ready are wanting to go back and see how many more creeks we can find

Those bullheads taste just fine. Really good blackened if you like spicy fish. I used to just fry them.
What a wonderful day with the kids!

I'd have kept all the small brim. Just gut em, scale em and fry em. Just pull the meat off the bone with a fork and enjoy.

When I say small I mean ( chinkapen brim)
I have no idea if that a proper name or just something local the big ones are 0.50 pice size most are quarter size.
My dad would keep them clean them and would fry them hard. Even one that cooked them called the fry hards and would eat them kinda like chips.
The few bigger brim/sun fish there dad did not want to keep them.

I was hoping to get in to warmouth or stumpknockers.

I think there will be a mess for everyone when we cook them especially since my wife said she was going to make hush puppies and cheese grits with white and yellow extra sharp cheddar.

I actually like the bullhead / mudcat the best of all the cats. Pan fry in bacon grease.
I grew up fishing down there
My dad took me to those same creeks since I was 4
He has passed and some times today
I was 1/2 expecting to see him.
Those were some of his favorite spots down there.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
