We have so much diversity in game in Africa.
Who uses a BD14....?
In particular 22Hornet/6.5×57R or7x57R and 20ga...
Could be a pefect small game and night critter gun combination.....

Nobody uses or dreams about using one?

Mine is the predecessor, the Blaser BD 880, 8x75RS, .22 Hornet, 16/70 ga.
The 8x75RS is a hammer of a cartridge.
The gun is more or less a safe queen, because I seldom need that amount of power for my daily hunting....
Nontheless, probably not bad for african plains game.

I have a D99 Duo. Similar concept and a sort-of predecessor to the BD14. It's chambered in 6.5x55, 22 hornet, 20ga. The regulation system is different on the Duo (screws at the muzzle) vs the BD14, but I'd wager the BD14 system works just as well. As a handloader I appreciate being able to use different loads and simply re-regulating the second rifle barrel myself.

I love the concept and the gun. It is extremely accurate and versatile. Haven't used in Africa, but in the US I've shot several deer, turkey, birds, and other targets of opportunity with it. The BD14 should be even better than the Duo since it's lighter.

Totally missed this one…

I dream of a BD14 in 8x57JRS, 5.6x52R with the standard 20/76.

That said, the cost is more than I can bear, at least for now.

I like the integral mount system and the adjustment that Rimshot refers to.

If your combo purchase falls through, it would be a fantastic option, especially as they are quite light.

The cost is significant....mine would be 22 Hornet/7×57R/20ga......can only dream about it at this point.....
Busy with a deal on a BS97 6.5x57R/9.3×74R.....I hope I can pull it off.....

I do dream about one of these, ever since I held one at SCI. The price tag required more ink than i expected. I could pay for a hunt instead of buying that gun. Well, that is what practical me says.
Impractical me says three barrels is thrice the fun, so mathematically the rifle is really only 1/3 the cost, but paid three times, all at once.

I have been using a BD14 for about 5 years now. It’s a very useful tool. Mine is in 7x65R x 22 Hornet x 20 gauge x 76mm. I very rarely come back to camp without something for the pot. There have been times when I have been hunting fallow deer with the 7x65R, but have ended up with a couple of ducks or a hare instead. It’s very versatile with small and medium rifles, and a shotgun. It’s even more versatile if I am hunting with my GSP, and occasionally we have bagged a few quail.
It’s very accurate as well for short / medium distances.

I have found a Blaser BS 9.3x74R/6.5×57R Bergstutsen for sale..serious negotiations going on for this one ideal pg combo for Africa....

Also availible 6.5x55 Swede K95 if it was 7x65R it would have been with me......

Rare stuff here....not easily found in RSA....

My BD 14 caliber choice would be

22 Hornet/6.5×57R/20ga
Or
22 Hornet/7×57R/20ga

315.000 Rand? Thats quiet a lot.
If i did my math right i payed 39k Rand for my Krieghoff with Swarovski Scope and a few kg of amunition.
Yip quote I got for a plain Jane K drilling.....

Wanna sell?

I will get one I think. Gonna go for 5.6x50R/30R Blaser. I load these rounds already and am quite happy with the performance. Out to typical hunting ranges trajectory is very similar. It’ll be perfect Roe/Boar stalker with Pheasant and Fox in the mix. Ideal for autumn/winter hunts in my neck of woods. I’ve handled one in a store and was impressed what a lightweight, handy gun it is. I love stalking with my K95 but having an option of a shotgun would be great on some of the hunts.

Can you guys post some photos with your drillings? Love to see some of them.

Did my first hog BD14 drilling trifecta Monday here in FL. Was a bit hesitant re the .22 Hornet.Usually like a .270+
However, with well-aimed base-of-skull shots the results were dramatic and instantaneous. Gonna pick up a single barrel for the little K95.
Funny how those bucket lists get longer
