This thread is slightly different from 'some things can never be bettered', this time the theme is extreme quality. This may not appeal to all. Some are die hard practicalists to whom adequacy is right on, no problem with that either. But to some of us, the quest for quality is a driver. Let me say from the outset that this is not necessarily to do with money. Indeed half the fun is finding something exquisite in an antique shop, or at a boot sale. Or it may be consciously saving up over time for an expensive item, as was the case with my Verney Carron, its a basic model that is nevertheless top quality and what I could achieve.
So here is my opening:
Cut glass crystal that rings when you toast
Hand made knives with ivory bolsters
Top quality shirts
Courteney boots
Patrick Mavros silver cuff links, buffalo is the favourite.
Single malt Scotches

Single malt Scotches

Ill add to the liquor and say that American whiskeys (not just bourbons) have really come a long way over the past several years..

Hooten & Young 12 year is simply exquisite (absolutely my favorite whiskey in the world right now.. reserved to only be had with good friends after fine meals)... and Whistle Pig 10 year has all of the complexity and beauty of single malt scotches twice as aged..

A great cigar is also something I consider fine in life... Pair a 2 finger glass of H&Y with a Fuente Anejo Shark or a Padron 85 Year Family Reserve, while sitting by the fire after a successful hunt...

I cant come up with anything finer on the planet..

A fine automobile. Aston Martin for one.
A London made Rigby rifle.
A fine shotgun. Beretta's SL3 or the SO Sparviere.
Cartier Tank Anglaise watch in 18K rose gold.
Classic forged iron golf clubs--the Ben Hogan Icon irons.

Maybe a caveat of this thread is that you have to own (or have previously owned) said item. It's easy to just say a bunch of nice brand names . . . even though some are rubbish (like modern Astons).

I will second Anejo Shark and Hermes tie from above. Both are exquisitely executed.

Which is ? . . .

mustard powder, smoked salt, pepper, smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, brown sugar

is there anything else that could possibly be acceptable?

:)

Fine art works by Christian Lassen and Wyland.

My clothes tend to come from R.E.I. or Cabelas.

I went to a funeral this morning and had to dig through the closet to find dress pants that were probably 20 years old.

My vehicle is a 16 year old F150.

Perhaps this isn't my thread, but I look forward to seeing what you guys write.:giggle:

My old truck is a 2005 Dodge Cummins 6 speed stick. Pre smog, pre piss tank, not a lot of garbage. Everyone wants it but no one is going to get it. I might decide to be buried in it.

Yeah mine is a 2007. Automatic with 4x4. Last year you could get it with out all that emissions crap. I’m not planning on getting rid of it!!!

Mine is a 1995 hardtop #13 for the US (manual). Something I will likely only part with when my newborn son turns 16.

My list? Having a long, successful marriage to the same beautiful woman.

Having great kids who display a tremendous work ethic and have successful careers.

Having everything you really need to the point you have few wants.

Plenty of money in the bank and no debt.

The rest of the stuff is just that - stuff.
