Eland is usually found in the Central to Northern parts of Namibia
I suggest you make contact with the following body in Namibia for guidance: NAPHA Namibia Professional Hunting Association PO Box 11291 318 Sam Nujoma Drive (Klein Windhoek) Windhoek --- NAMIBIA Tel : ++ 264 61 234455 napha@mweb.com.na
Hi Bigkudu I see you are new to the forum so let me start by saying Welcome to AH. Now for the Question are you just set to go to NAMIBIA or is your heart set on Big Eland? According to the SCI record book of the Top Ten Cape Eland 7 came out of RSA, 2 out of Namibia and 1 out of Botswana and for the top 100 about 14 came out of Namibia and about 14 or so came from other African Countrys the rest came from RSA (South Africa) so what I'm getting at is unless you have your heart set on just going to Namibia don't limit yourself to Namibia the Records show South Africa as being the best place to go for Monster Cape Eland.
I saw some very big eland while hunting kudu about an hour north east of Grootfontien. Eland are amazing animals and make an outstanding trophy. I hope you find what you are looking for.
"Eden" in north central Namibia Home has one of the highest concentration of quality animals that I have seen anywhere in southern Africa. I hunted there last summer and took an SCI gold medal 38 incher. Though they can and will be happened upon, the preferred hunt is striking tracks at dawn and then walking them down. Simply a tremendous experience.
Thanks to all for your advice and attention, I want to try Namibia looking for free roaming Elands, Isaw some big ones at the orange river but at reserve area I was hunting next to the river area, but can have one one the ranch, I saw a lot on game farms but they arent as wild as I want , I dont want a hunt that way.
I hope in Namibia I can find a good deal in a good area to hunt free roaming bulls and for a huge southern Kudu bull, I just take the eastern cape one.
This is my #1 choice for Eland in Namibia, Ozondjahe Hunting Safaris they can be found in the outfitter forum above and the website is African Hunting Safaris in Namibia go to the forum and read about them also check out their photos under members photos I believe they have well over 3000 posted trust me I don't think you will be Disappointed.
Big Kudu, there is very little that is so rewarding as to track a big Eland bull (meaning mature - blue neck bulls as some refer to them). The older an Eland bull gets the more likely he is to wear his horns down faster than it regrows. Really old bulls will more likely not make the book!
Gerrit Breedt of ElandPro Safaris and Nico Badenhorst at Eldoret Hunting are two guys that grew up with Eland. Do a google search and speak with them!!!
Clients I referred to Gerrit shot a 41” Eland and a 58” Kudu in June with him.
All of the best!
Thank you Sir. We do not have allot of time to actively participate on the forums as our connections are so slow in the bush. I do eagerly read if we have a connection that will hold!
I think Hyena rate up there with Leopard when it comes to outwit the buggers. They are just sooooo careful once they have been prosecuted by cattle ranchers...
Hi Montana Pat heres the lion info,.
BULL CREEK OUTFITTERS WELLS NV. [ FACEBOOK] CLEVE AND BECKY DWIRE 775- 293-1917. they are out hunting alot this tlme of year
thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
