I started using these super fancy, spray paint n' paper plate targets with my scoped 275 before I went to Tanzania this year. The idea being it's about the size of a vital area.
When I recently got a 404 with express sights I was using the paper plate target with both rifles. What I found was that at 50 yards the green plate was just big enough to make a perfect corona around my front sight. Which really helped accuracy.
This target was from this weekend, three shots from my 404J with express sights at 50 yards off of sticks. I'm using low velocity loads which is why it's shooting high to the right. But the group speaks for itself. And I'm not trying to brag about my shooting -- quite the contrary. The target is so helpful it is what deserves the credit.
But if you can be confident in your accuracy it means you can test loads etc from sticks versus from the bench which is so much more pleasant with heavy rifles.
