Seems everyone recommends them for Cape buffalo. Where can they be found? are they still made?

lol, recently by having email alerts with the production houses, Grafs, Midway, etc. I recently got a combined four boxes but otherwise really hard to get

Still made but have been hard to find for some years. You can buy them direct from Swift’s website or Ive bought them from Midwayusa, turn notifications on so you know when they are available. Really a tough bullet for the big guys. Here is the recovered bullet from my bull as well as/and in comparison to the 150 ablr from my 7mm-08 which was also excellent on plains game from kudu to duiker.

Lol. Larger calibers are mostly unobtainium. I bought an auction certificate through the SCI convention over a year ago and want 458 A-frames but still don’t have any. I think I’m going to end up filling it with other calibers and just make the move to Barness and North Forks on the 458. Great bullet but horrible availability and when they do come in stock, they’ll be gone in a flash.

For a substitute check into Barnes TSX and Northfork. But you’ll get recommendations for every Bullet made before this post is exhausted!

Are you looking for loaded ammunition or bullets? Pendleton ammunition has some available for certain cartridges now or you can wait for another federal run. If you want bullets I’d turn on notifications on swifts website and midway to get notified when back in stock. I really do think swift are worth waiting for. It’s not a 223 or 308 where you’ll shoot hundreds. You use them on heavy game because they perform. They haven’t been the most accurate for me (about 1.5”) but they perform as designed on every shot and every shot angle I’ve used them. Barnes TSX and Federal’s trophy bonded bear claw are also very good. Northfork seems in the same category but I haven’t used.

You didn’t say what caliber you are looking for and if you are wanting factory ammo or components for reloading.

Seems every week or two someone here on AH has some factory ammo or bullets up for sale but you usually need to be quick to grab them before someone else.

I also see them regularly in several calibers on Federal’s website. I’ve also ordered them online from Pendleton Ammunition and Choice Ammunition in 375HH, seems like they usually have them available that they load and their ammo is very good. I just looked and both of these companies have 300gr A Frame .375HH available today. Other secondary reloading companies like Hendershots are an option

If you are looking for loaded ammunition with Swift A-Frames, check on Ammoseek or Hendershots. I love A-Frames, just wish Swift cranked them out at a higher level.

I reached out to them 2 weeks ago about .416 400gr and they told me they are slated to be run late August/September of this year not sure how soon they will hit the street?

The reputation that A Frames have is well earned, in fact it’s the only bullet company that I’ve never heard a complaint about.

However, even with Woodleigh’s fire and having to get an ATF import permit for myself to buy them from an OZ retailer; waiting for the factory to rebuild as well as Raven Rocks to become an importer and get their first shipment in…..

With all that in the last four years I’ve been able to get more bullets out of Woodleigh on the opposite side of the earth, than I am from Swift in Kansas.

I think this is why they are constantly sold out. Before 2020, I mostly bought as needed. After 2020, I want 200 rounds minimum of hunting bullets for each rifle I have. I’m of opinion a rifle without ammo isn’t worth much. 2020 really changed my thinking.

Here is the response they sent me 5/23/26
Currently producing the 458’s now….they should be available in 4-6 weeks. The 470’s will be produced on approximately 9/1-9/10.

I have shot several buff and use Barnes tsx. They work very well.
