I have seen many big caliber Rigby rifles, with a fixed dome sling attachment in the rear wood, instead of the typical swivel attachment.

I am not sure if this was standard or an accessory

But surely I have only seen it in Rirby rifles.

Maybe one has an original leather sling and can post/send me a few photos of the way it was attached?

Also, is it possible to obtain one of those fixed dome attachment?? Maybe one has changed it for a swivel style one, and has the original with no use

Seems to me that these were more common in the muzzle loading era.
The sling end being much like a guitar strap end.

Well, all the occasions where I have seen that attachment, has been in rifles/doubles of first half 20th century....

I have seen one similar on a Westley Richards 318 . The guy who has the USOG site on YouTube had it .

James Purdey used them extensively on their muzzle loading rifles and early cartridge rifles.
Look at the search photos - pretty common.
Another indication of the use of this type of sling attachment is in looking at period gun cases.
Many fitted cases have a little gap along the toe line partition which allows this head to fit.

Good Afternoon,
How firm are you on your Dakota 416? I am highly interested but looking at a few different guns currently.

Best,
BJ

What is the minimum you would take.

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
