Ok so my girlfriend saw the 460 i was looking at and she bought it for me. I know most all of yall don't like Weatherby but I love this thing, fits me great and man i love that short bolt throw! Ammo is crazy expensive so I'm not throwing $12 rounds in the dirt since I don't even have iron sights (the only real downfall of this rifle imo besides not being crf) so I've only wasted 3 round so far. I'm most likely going to go with a Leupold 1.5x5 for the eye relief and light weight so what base and rings have you boys used that will tolerate the recoil?

If the rifle isn't equipped with iron sights, there's no need to even think about a quick detachable system. A Talley one piece ring and base system is one option. A Warne cross slot type ring and base system is another I'd look at.

No there's reason for qd mounts and that'll probably save a little weight too. I've used Talley and Alaskans before but didn't know if there's better option for the so called vicious recoil. I sure don't want to strip the threads or break screws off in the action

Near mfg alphamount its a one piece mount, have one on my 378wby, can get standard two or three ring set up. Have had both and multiples and his work is first class. If i ever decide to scope my 460wby this route i will go.

That Alphahunter at looks real good. I don't want to use a pic rail if I can at all help it

Well heck, Dont tease us with a question! Let’s see that beast! Pics or it didn’t happen lol

I don't have a decent photo yet but here's my 3 shots. Forgive my "form" my 416 is the worse kicker I've shot until now. The first shot i was excited and forgot my ear plugs and my God that sucked!

Ok for some reason it won't post my video

Well we’re waiting lol I personally love those old Weatherby MK5’s! I have an old friend that bought one in 460WBY back in the early 90’s and it was a hoot to shoot lol
Like yours it was open sight and came with a muzzle brake. It had beautiful wood with the classic Weatherby Rosewood stock cap and grip cap that had the Ivory borders and the Ivory diamond in the grip cap! Gorgeous rifle!!! And of course capable of taking anything on the planet including Blue Whales lol

Yep that's exactly what I got, beautiful stock and blue steel and with a surprisingly good trigger. I did see that the 460 is legally approved for hunting whales lol not sure I'll ever be going that route though. I'll try and get some good enough pics tomorrow but I'd like to be able to upload the video, it's only 34 seconds.

I don't think you can attach a video to a post like you can an image file. You'll probably need to upload your video to one of the sites that the forum software supports and then embed / insert the video here.

You have a great girlfriend. And, of course, the rifle.

If you want to install a Leupold 1.5x5 scope, then this is probably the VX-3 range. But will this scope withstand such a strong recoil?

Well I started out looking at the VX5 1x5 but the VX3 has a bit more eye relief and I think it was a little lighter. I plan on talking to Leupold before buying one and see if the VX3 series can hold up. The VX5 is 28mm objective over the VX3's 24mm but idk if 4 mm is enough to matter in low light/shadows.

Scope rings I use Burris Signature XTR scope rings. They are 6 screw and polymer inserts to adjust mechanical zero. I have a picatinny scope base paired with an Athlon Cronus BTR ED glass illuminated 1-6×24mm scope. This setup on my 375ruger rifle. Is the weatherby 8-40 screws or 6-40?

Ok Mr Diesel I did get a few quick pics before the rain. I thought I'd throw my other 460 in there for good measure...

Warne lists all the 9 lug Weatherby MKV's as 6-48.

Beautiful!!!! WOW what a rifle! Kiss your girl she got you something special!
Thank you sir, now you see why I was oogling that stock when she asked what I was looking at. I've wanted a Mark V for years but couldn't justify one. (Really wish they would make a satin finish an option though)

Back After a Long Time – Hello Again!

Hi everyone,

I’ve been a member since 2015 but haven’t been active since 2017. Life got busy, especially with building my second business. Still, I’ve kept my passion for hunting and followed things from afar. Now that I have more time, I’m excited to reconnect, contribute, and be part of the community again.

All the best,
ANDY

I'd like a bag of 100. I could actually pick it up since I'm in North Irving, but if you prefer, shipping it is fine.
