Anyone on here have any experience with the sauer 101? Toying with the idea of picking one up but I don't know anyone that's ever had one so I was wondering how they perform in the real world.

I've never owned one but have had a couple in hand.
Interchangeable parts with the Mauser M12, bolt and magazine for example.
They are Sauer's equivalent to the M12 (or were a couple of years ago).
Made under the same roof as Mauser and Blaser, just different branding and looks but a functional piece of kit with a respected name on it.
It all comes down to which name you want to buy.
I bought the M12 because I liked it more, it felt better and the action was more refined and smooth.
But if you want a reasonably priced gun that ticks a lot of boxes then you can't go wrong with either.

I own two of the Sauer 100 XT's, one in 6.5x55 Swede and just picked up the other last weekend in 7mm Remington Magnum. Synthetic stock version, as Adrian noted very similar to the Mauser from the one I handled.
The 6.5 Swede I've only shot at paper with a variety of factory ammo, from 140 grain to 156 grain, Hornady Superformance, Federal Powershok, Fusion, Norma and Lapua. Very satisfied with accuracy, the Hornady and Norma were capable of 1", 3 shot groups off the bench at 100 yards, none of the loads were stinkers. No feeding issues. This one will be my "poor weather" gun this deer season in Kentucky. Haven't been able to try out the 7mm RM yet, will report on that when I can. Spare mags are $50 plus shipping from Europtics. Scope mounts were spendy from Sauer for their Hexalock version but Remington 700 long action bases work, so got the Leupold offering. Hope this is helpful.

My Dad had one in .30-06 for a brief period of time which he sold for a Browning semi automatic Safari II In the same caliber . I fired it a few times. In my humble experience , it shoots well with the 180 grain bullets , but the 220 grain bullets create a larger ( albeit still workable ) grouping.

For a push-feed rifle at that price point, I would rather have the Sako 85 than the Sauer 101. I had a Sauer 202 that had nothing but issues (magazine related).

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
