Hello LT Backstrap.
Though not quite the same, I have a Ruger #1S with a 24" barrel, blued steel and Walnut; I think this was a Lipsey's (local Louisiana distributor, with an "in" with Ruger). They spec and but nice Ruger #1"s since the line was discontinued.
It's quickly becoming my favorite rifle. Mounted with a Leupold 1.5-4X Euro-30 with the German #4 reticle.
Checking my reloading book: Please use all precautions in working up loads, start 5-10% below and work up looking for pressure signs. I also run the exact same loads through my custom 1912 Steyr Mauser 98 with a 24 " barrel with same good results.
I do not have a chronograph (shame on me) but will soon and just followed reloading manual data (Lee, Hornady, Nosler).
225 Grain Siearra BTSP 55 grains Varget , 3.260 OAL
225 Nosler Accubond, 56 gr Varget, 3.300 OAL
250 grain Hornady RN 54.5 grains Varget 3.2623 OAL.
All were accurate and hit close to the same POI. Approximately 1.5 MOA, off a standing rest.
These are not MAX loads but shoot very well in my rifles.
I have another Mauser 98 (Husqvarna) that's about to be barreled to the 35 Whelen.
Hope this helps.
