Rifles with claw bases

While I do not have one yet, I habe been looking at various rifles that have claw bases. I am quite familiar with them as I have a set on my drilling. My question is if you buy a rifle with the bases, who do you send the gun to to get the scope properly mounted on "new" rings that will fit it?

At least in Europe you send it to a qualified gun smith that is capable of fitting new claw mounts that fits in the mounts, I assume it is the same in the USA with gun smiths that are experienced in working with claw mounts. A better option might be to change the claw bases into bases for swing mounts instead, they are much easier when it comes to change from one rifle scope to another and probably the same costs for the gun smiths work.

EAW mounts are slightly less expensive.

Yes on the gunsmith, I should have been more specific -- I am wondering the exact process and who someone might recommend here in the states to do the work. I am 100% sure NECG can do it...wondering who else.

Probably JJ Perododeau or NECG.

Oops. Beat me to the punch on NECG. I think JJ is likely the best in the general "area". A lot of the older guys that are capable of the work are seemingly less interested in doing general gunsmithing these days--with some exceptions.

Edit. Recknagel/EAW system and install will be more than slightly less expensive than having a qualified gunsmith mate a ring system to most existing claw mount systems with missing rings.

I see, here in Sweden I have been quoted about 900 USD for fitting two rings to existing claw mount including material. The price was the same to convert the existing bases to swing mounts, again including the material.

In US JJ Perodeau does this type work but in my experience it is not cheap which is why I now stay away from them. Just me

Anyone knows who can do swing bases/mounts in Canada? I’ve got claw mounts and an ancient scope. Would like to get a newer scope mounted.

I am also looking for a gunsmith to create a new set of claw mount scope rings. I have a rifle that came with a set of claw mount rings, but they are set-up for a 56mm front ring. I would like to have a set of rings made for a “regular” 1” tube scope.
