Hello everyone!

I’m a first-time poster on this forum.

In October 2023, I am travelling from London to Windhoek, via Doha with Qatar Airlines.

I am taking my rifle with me.

Does anyone have any hints or tips, please?

In particular, do I have to do anything in Doha, or does the rifle go right through to the final destination?

Thank you,

James

Hi James, I replied to your post on the SD. Your rifles etc. go on the plane at Heathrow and you wont see them till you get to Windhoek. Enjoy.

By the way , welcome to a great forum/web site. It has been a great help to me especiely if you move to the dark side (bow hunting) Also no where near as many dick heads as SD.

I'm curious, which forum is SD? Maybe just a bit more for a thick lad like me to search with, if you don't want to spell it out fully.

Welcome to AH :S Welcome:

As MarkCZ says, Qatar will check all your luggage through to Windhoek. Have fun!

What outfit will you be hunting with?

Don't forget to post a full hunt report here when you get back:)

Hi James
I have never flown from London with Qatar Airlines. Just BA (but that’s another story)
Have you contacted the Uk Homeoffice to get the paperwork is place.
Have a great trip.

Hi mate, SD is the "Stalking Directory" here in the UK. A forum and there are some very helpful and experienced folks on it but there are also some argumentative and ill informed so and so,s.

You should declare with the airline and have their firearms form filled out. For Namibia just have the Namibian rifle form filled out but not signed to present on arrival. The airport is small and people are helpful. Firearms office can be one of two places. There is one in the middle aisle of the airport and one outside. On arrival our rifles were at the outside window and on departure they were checked in the interior police office.

Gordon? I think I might know you. Think we met a few times on an estate near Hermitage, in Berks. Hope you are well!

Quick question. Could you explain a bit more about HO paperwork, please? I thought that my FAC would cover me for temporary export for personal use.

Don’t want to get caught out!

Sir, I think I have been writing to you about the purchase of the HK 639 rifle under an email "Tt Jake." If this is you, then I am truly interested. I am just trying to verify identify. Tt Jake is asking for a cash transaction. No disrespect intended, Just trying to verify who I am talking to. Thank you. Respectfully. Dan

Hey my friend, I am returning to SA for a Cape Buffalo hunt in June 26. My outfitter has suggested Highveld but I have read some poor reports. Wondering how satisfied you were with your mounts from them? Thanks in advance.
Finally back to somewhat normal I missed reading the messages and posts
