Hunting Zimbabwe for anniversary trip in 2026. Wife and I will hunt, then visit Vic Falls for a couple days, then want to do 3-4 days in cape town. I booked the hunt with rifle rental so I wouldn’t have to mess with it with multiple countries. But now I’ve got my eye on a 404J and I’m rethinking that.

Is it possible to permit a rifle into RSA when you’re not hunting there?

Thanks!

I know a couple guys. I could probably book a couple days

When flying to Joberg for a hunt in Namibia, a permit is issued for RSA. I suspect the rifle permit folks can help with this. It is a very inexpensive part of a hunt to hire one of the fine companies that assist us in transitions. Africa sky and Travel Express are a fantastic resource for this type of inquiry.

When I hunted in Zimbabwe two years ago, Jennifer at Travel Express set it up so that Africa Sky in Jo'burg met us at the airport and took care of my rifles while my wife and I went up to Vic Falls and Chobe for a couple of days. Then we flew back to Johannesburg, picked up my guns and then flew up to Bulawayo for the hunt, so I'm sure you can do what you want to do. Just a matter of working out the details.

Just about everyone that hunts in a Southern Africa country lands in South Africa before they move on to the country that the safari takes place in. Not usually all that complicated.

I also suggest including a hunt in SA to simplify the issue but that is not necessary. In 2022 my wife and I flew into JNB, stayed at Africa Sky a few days and toured around Johannesburg while firearms were kept in the Africa Sky safe. We then hunted Cape Buffalo in Zimbabwe and toured Vic Falls and Botswana. We then flew back to SA and hunted PG with Sun Africa Safaris. Rifles were easily permitted into SA and out to Zimbabwe but left in tge Vic Falls hotel safe while in Botswana, then retrieved and back to SA without a hitch. On other trips, we have left firearms in the safe at Africa Sky while touring Kruger or other countries.

Sir, I think I have been writing to you about the purchase of the HK 639 rifle under an email "Tt Jake." If this is you, then I am truly interested. I am just trying to verify identify. Tt Jake is asking for a cash transaction. No disrespect intended, Just trying to verify who I am talking to. Thank you. Respectfully. Dan

Hey my friend, I am returning to SA for a Cape Buffalo hunt in June 26. My outfitter has suggested Highveld but I have read some poor reports. Wondering how satisfied you were with your mounts from them? Thanks in advance.
