I am taking my own rifle on my next safari. I understand you can’t bring ammo that doesn’t match your rifle. My question is, my rifles have custom barrels that don’t have the caliber stamped on them. Will this be an issue?
1. Since it is a custom barrel, it has to be installed and chambered. The barrel maker doesn’t know what the end cartridge (just bore diameter) will be. Even if he did stamp it, when the barrel is installed, the stamp could end up in an unreadable position concealed by the stock.Good Question.
Better questions:
1. Why don’t your custom barrels have caliber markings on them?
2. Does your rifles have the caliber markings on the receiver? Or Any other location on the firearms?
This could be the beginnings of a bad hunt. Confusing ammo and rifle.
If you are going to confuse your own rifles ammo, a stamped barrel is probably not going to help.
